OK, watching Future Weapons tonihgt on Discovery while sitting at work. They were talking about this amazing new body armor that is being developed called Dragon Scale. Same idea as the old scale armour worn as far bas as the Roman Empire. The design is nothing new, I just wonder why it took them so long to use it for this purpose with modern materiels........

    Ah well. Just my $.02

I have a friend who is in Afghanistan and our town raised funds to purchase this very armor for him because at the time (about two years ago) the army didn't have any armor to issue him. Let me tell you, this is some tough stuff. Really impressive. Sadly though, the army wouldn't let him use that armor because it wasn't officially recognized by the military. He went six months without any armor, but thank God he was never in a situation where he needed it.

Exactly my point...... I actually had a chance to go to Afghanistan in December. Working for AAFES as a Hairstylist. Nice deal for the $$, but no armour benefits, so I decided against it. If I did go tho, i would be looking for something like that... damn impressive stuff that's for sure.

why do you watch dumb tv shows that make your brain itch? If anything about the military or the world at large WAS intelligent, there would be no need FOR a military, because people could figure their damn selves out. Duh. turn of the tv, itll rot your brain.

Did you even notice what happened with a direct blast from a Grenade? Of course, they should of used Ballistics Gel, not a Punching Dummy, to show the amount of damage that happens from the blast, nor used a shock meter.
