I have this 20gb Seagate Internal drive that I am installing in this External Drive case. Now that I got it all put together I cant get Wins Xp Pro to recognize it when I plug it in to the USb 2.0 ports. I was told that you could use this HD as a Plug and Play devise. NOTSO. The only driver that came w/ the enclouser was a win 98 cd. The CD does not work w/ XP PRo. Question is there any way to partion it to the computer without a Driver installation. Divise Manager did recognize in the begining as a Mass Storage divice. But now it doesnot see it. I have tried to get it installed for several days now. Thanks for any help anyone can give me. ODIE

Does the external case have any instruction regarding HD jumper settings? Maybe you just need to move it to Master. You should need no driver for WinXP.

Studio T: Thanks for the help. It worked. I had to unplug the power unit and reinstall the power unit. Disk manager recognized it. And it was a easy from there. I Don't Know what I was doing wrong. I thought that because it was a clean drive that wins could not read something that was not there. Thanks again. ODIE :)

The Doug: No jumper setting was given. Just said that it was a Plug and play. I got the problem fixed. Thanks. ODIE:)
