Hi guys. My PC isn't running so well as it was. Could you take a look and see if anything is untoward here? Thanks. I know nothing about PCs so I am in your hands lol.

Please describe your problems in more technical terms. That is tell us exactly what your problems are. The statement you made is just too vague.

Most people are under the very mistaken misconception that HijackThis is a scanning/removal tool. It is not! HijackThis is simply a tool that is used to identify browser hijackers and in some cases it will show entries for some malware that is for instance running at startup. All it does is list a few of the thousands of registry keys that exist, and it makes no inferences to whether anything being shown is good or bad. That decision is left a person with significant Windows and malware cleaning experience. HijackThis does not come close to showing all malware that could be hiding on a PC. Anyone who has an infected computer and is relying on HijackThis without the benefit of running other scans such as Spybot, Windows Defender, BitDefender & Panda, CCleaner, etc. are more than likely still infected. In most cases, where there is one virus/trojan there are more. The goal of this forum is to remove all malware, and this cannot be done properly by just seeing a HijackThis log.

So all that being said! There is nothing in your log of concern but as indicated above that does not mean you don't have malware problems. But you do show two antivirus programs running (Panda and AVG) which you should not do. But since you did not describe your problems, all I can refer you to is the below if you think you have malware.

Please follow our standard cleaning procedures which are necessary for us to provide you support. Also there are steps included for installing, renaming, running, and posting HijackThis logs as attachments.
    • Run ALL the steps in this Sticky thread READ & RUN ME FIRST Before Asking for Support
    • Make sure you check version numbers and get all updates.
    • Very Important: Make sure you tell us the results from running the tutorial...was anything found? Were you unable to complete any of the scans?...Were you unable to download any of the tools?...Did you do the on-line scans as suggested? etc.
    • After doing ALL of the above you still have a problem make sure you have booted to normal mode and run the steps in the below link to properly use HijackThis and attach a log:
Make sure you also rename HijackThis.exe as suggested in the procedures. Use analyse.exe for the new name. This is very important due to some new infections going around.
    • When you return to make your next post, make sure you attach the following logs and that you have run these scans in the following order too:
      • CounterSpy
      • AVG Antispyware log - ONLY IF NEEDED you were not able to run CounterSpy
      • Bitdefender - from step 6
      • Panda Scan - from step 6
      • runkeys.txt - the log from GetRunKey.bat
      • newfiles.txt - the log from ShowNew.bat
      • HijackThis
NOTE: You can only attach 3 files in a single message so it will require that you use two messages to attach all of these logs!

The problems seem to have resolved themselves in the main. The symptoms were slow opening of sites and erratic download speeds. I could download a film clip at a reasonable speed one minute, then go onto the next one and it was a quarter the speed of dial up. Hotmail was opening an attachment at just 19KB/sec at one point, now it does it quicker at 37KBs/sec. Oddly G Mail can open the same attachment in a tenth of the time, which puzzles me.

I have run Spybot, Adaware, Windows Defender and my anti virus which is AVG, all come up clean so I'm thinking that perhaps it was an ISP issue. If it recurs I will follow your above advice and post accordingly. My speed test results show a speed of 3.91 on a 4 Meg service so that seems ok.

I only have one Anti Virus program running, AVG free edition. I think the Panda and McAfee entries on the log were from ages ago when I used their scanners. May I ask are there any items on the log that I can safely delete now, to unclutter my pc?

You still have a service from Panda trying to load:
    O23 - Service: Panda Process Protection Service (PavPrSrv) - Unknown owner - C:\Program Files\Common Files\Panda Software\PavShld\pavprsrv.exe (file missing)

You can try to have HJT fix that line but typically it will require additional steps to remove completely.

You can also fix the below:
    O20 - Winlogon Notify: WRNotifier - WRLogonNTF.dll (file missing)

There was no malware in your HJT log! Other non-malware items are not topics for this forum. And we cannot really decide what you need and don't need. For example, I would just say uninstall Windows Live and GoogleToolbar stuff which I personally don't think are necessary, but you may like them.

You're welcome. Did you get the Service entry for Panda removed?

To be honest it has been there for years and not caused any problems, though next time I do a scan I will probably have a go at removing it, I noticed one for McAfee too that should probably not be there. The PC is nearly four years old, is very basic and I suppose it's just the accumulated "clutter" that one collects over the years. I just wanted somebody to take a look at my log to reasssure me there was no malware, which you have kindly done. My speeds are now back to normal and my AV and spyware scans come up clean. That is the main thing I guess.

But as I mentioned in my first message HijackThis is not a malware/antispyware scanner. If you want to check for malware, the other steps are required.
