OK.... is it jsut me, or would that freak the you-know-what out of others to be looking down into the Grand Canyon from like a mile up with nothing between you and a sudden stop at the bottom but some tempered glass??????

I'm sorry, I may not be afraid of heights, but you couldn't drag me out onto something like that for all the money in the world (OK... for that much, maybe, but I doubt anyone is going to offer me enough moiney to do it)

I thinkit would be a neat gimmick to get people out there, but let's get real.... what is the weight limit going to be, how is the superstructure going to hold, what about the wind??? *shudder* seems like a catastrope waiting to happen.

OK, discuss amongst yourselves now :)

ahh...i heard about that a lil while ago. sounds pretty cool. yea, may be a bit nerve wracking lol but whatever, i still think it would be cool. Yea, structural integrity seems like it could be a problem too...They have a baseball park that has a glass floor in the roof too which is cool

Haha, no thanks! Did you see the elevation comparison? I've been in the Sears Tower, and I won't get close to the edge and I'm behind glass and a steel bar. There is no way I'm ever getting near that thing!

the Eiffel tower is really freakin' tall, there isnt even glass up there to keep u in, just some guard rails/chain fencing. I dunno how high it is but being up there, it was definitely higher than id ever been. Cant see the grand canyon being much deeper/taller

hahaha wow i just looked at the comparison...DAMN! thats crazy!!! its like skydiving without the diving!

Hmm...No thanks. If I want to see the Grand Canyon form above, I'll fly over it.

More to the point, I just hope it doesn't make the Canyon look ugly, just for some tourist thrill bucks.

The advances in structual engineering are amazing these days, but i dunno?

Especially with Phantom doing low passes with a grin on his dial! :D

(Actually, i think i'd rather be in the plane with you mate!)

    Regards....

Not me . . . no way. I've watched too many of those "Engineering Disaster" shows to get any where near that walkway . . . Yikes!

ive stood on the edge of the grand canyon. its the nearest i have ever got to the feeling that if i just stepped off, i could fly. i have also been up the eiffel tower and the grand canyon is higher (or feels higher anyway!!). you dont have to be stood out in a glass bottomed ledge to feel the awe and wonder of the canyon, or to appreciate the immensity of it. sounds like a complete waste of time and money to me, and yes it will scar the canyon, except that the canyon is v-e-r-y big so it will only be a very little scar.

I would be very very worried that a scratch in glass that is just barely big enough to see will reduce the strength of the entire pane of glass by 1000x. Nothing like shattering glass and a plummet for several seconds to your doom to make something not worth even looking at.

So far this doesn't seem to be getting very good reviews around here, but I think it's pretty neat. And I'd try it. I think it would be awesome to just be out there, like walking on air. And if it cracks and breaks and you plunge to your death then it must have been your time to go. Everybody is going to die some day from something, why not be enjoying yourself when it happens. Please don't misunderstand me, I'm not being a smarta$$ here, it's just that I've spent most of my life trying to be practical and I just think walking out on that glass bridge would be an awesome deal.

Lol...I keep getting images of that simpsons episode when Homer is spying on the secret 'stonecutters' meeting, while he is lying on the roof's glass dome light.

You know what happens next! Doh...

It'll be there forever. Maybe an earthquake might bring the whole works down. Most things that engineers design stay in place. It would be freaky, but I'd get myself out onto it.

I'm not all that comfortable in aquariums, especially the ones that surround you.

I think it looks cool. I'm more worried about what it does to the environment and the "untouched" feeling of Grand Canyon, than the safety actually. If I was there, I'd probably go out, but only if there weren't a lot of people, crowds make me more uncomfortable than heights! :D

Shall we start a poll on when they will have the first action movie shot up there, where the hero almost falls through, and the villain plummets to his death? :D

LOL>.. sorry, Couldn't resist. And Carebear, I know what you mean about the ticket being punched when it is time, no matter what, but still... *shudder* no thanks for me. I'll take a slow burrow to the bottom and back up again, that will do it for me :)
