Which screen resolution are you using? I prefer 800x600, because a higher resolution is hard for me to read.

A poster pm'd me with the suggestion: " Could be a corrupt localstore.rdf file in your Firefox profile, see: http://kb.mozillazine.org/Localstore.rdf"

Could anyone comment on this? My firefox windows in Majorgeeks often go shooting out to the right side, although they don't seem to bother my ability to read the posts. It just looks sloppy.

    @ Theefool:
I can see which version of FF I have which is 20061010 Firefox/2.0. I downloaded this yesterday. Thinking that yesterday's version must be the most recent version, I went to oldapps to find your version, but they don't list the individual versions. Only like beta 2.0 or 2.0. Is there an easy way to get to your version?

    Thanks.

I'm on 1280x1024... I got my self a very nice new monitor a year and a half ago, when my old monitor exploded... Some things that happen are for the good, I love my new (still feels new, it is the newest thing I've got puterwise...) big monitor! :D

If it is the resolution that is the problem, you might be able to fix it by using a higher resolution and using a larger text size in your browser window (View menu in browser, or keep ctrl pressed while scrolling with the mouse button) so that you still can read properly.

Morning Abri, I'm running my res at 1280x and I too found the words too small. FF I know you can change the font size, but it doesnt do it for everything. So what i did was change the dpi size in display properties to 108% (104 dpi) and that brought the font size close to the 800x letter size. also this size didnt change the shape of the task bar like some of the higher %'s. Fiddle with that and see how you like. hope this helps:)
    Jaza;)

According to this MA doesn't care if a question gets answered? or has this changed now?
I am asking because I had posted a thread in the malware section
    http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=117831

In the shoutbox, I just asked a quick question if I could turn my automatic updatres back on or not and got instant silence. So Ii did post to this thread, although it isn't malware.

Just wondering if NO answers are given there any more. If so, I apologize for even asking in there.
    Thanks for the clarification.

Off Topic Chat & Shout Outs (No computers or technical stuff, use the forums for that) is posted at the top, so im betting it has changed due to certian users going way to far as questions go.

The shoutbox isn't for tech questions. No exceptions. If I make an exception for you, I have to for everyone else. Point in case, I had Word issues today, and I couldnt discuss them in the shoutbox, although I wanted to.

Its nothing personal, dont take it that way.

As for lack of response on your thread, Chaslang is out for a few days. Nothing in your question is dire. Everything done here is for free, please be considerate. Also, being in the Malware forum, there is only a few people who can reply to the thread anyway.

Most of us are interested in computers. Otherwise we wouldn't be here. A lot of us, when we "kick back" and discuss something of our interest, it is about computers. It can be swearing about something or marvelling about something, discussing, talking about how hyped you are about Vista (or not...) or how much we love the latest WMP skin, or how impressed we are with how effective Norton is...

This does NOT mean these topics are "Tech questions". This means people gather in a chatroom and talk about their mutual interest.

Are we allowed to do this? Are we allowed to talk about anything in that box, or is ALL computer talk banned?

No Solange those are discussions over questions, and both myself and Adryn have some nice chats on the benefits of Vista over Linux or OS X ;) these are lighthearted and while tech based are not questions and something we would all do in idle chatting.

One of the reasons that no tech questions are allow is the loss of information that others could search for in the question was in a thread, that can benefit others with same issue. Plus I wouldnt answer a tech question in a chat as too many various chats could be going on the concentrate on the question at hand and chats move too quickly to keep track of whats said.

Plus you cannot get enough information posted in a chat window to help effectively IMO.

Technical Question: Is it possible to have a 200 line scroll in the ShoutBox. I'm online infrequently, but the snippets I've seen in the ShoutBox are amusing. The problem??? I'd like to participate, but can't see enough of the conversations to sensibly jump in. A separate page for the ShoutBox would work, perhaps. There'd be more space for conversations.:)
