    Revolution

But I've heard too too many of their songs over the years and they have lost their appeal slightly, walked past Eleanor Rigby statue and the Cavern Club yesterday :)

Which Revolution - the loud, electric metal-ish B-Side of the Hey Jude single, or the slower acoustic "Revolution 1" on the White Album.

    (I'm sure you don't mean Revolution 9)

The loud metal version, its a get you going happy happy song.

Was at a Paul McCartney concert years ago in which he, linda and the band did a great version.

The Beatles were the worst band to ever occupy space on a stage.. I feel so strongly about this that I couldn't keep my mouth shut about it..sorry.

They were so different when they came about in the 60's, even had a different beat (percussion) then we were all used to. Then they would get hokey, then popular, never died completely. Think they were related to an era more then anything.

Hate to say this Kodo but there isn't a musician alive that would agree with that statement. Most Music Historians/Lovers I have meet are continuing to find more and more innovation in the Beatles Song Book. Like their music or not, they did more than any other musicians in our time to shape music. Five Great musicians meet in the Mersey mist and changed music forever. Wish I could say the same for "Rap", which for me is just a updated "Disco" with foul language, and a penchant for the same beat.

But then I am an "Old Fart":wave zzz

Have to disagree with you BC. While they certainly were popular and well respected they really did little to SHAPE MUSIC itself. They introduced other forms of music and media apreactiation such as their movies giving way to music videos. They let the world Tap into a market (the British Invasion) that was unknown at the time.

Buddy Holly 7-10 years before introduced alot of studio inovations that the Beatles used to their advantage.

As for shaping the direction music would take, laugh if you want to, The Ramones in the early 70's put an end to a generation of music that had it's time and overstayed it's welcome for alot of people. With little acknowlagement they kick started a whole new sound and attitude that reached around the world.

    Just my opinion.

Have to agree with you BB on the bit about Buddy Holly another Musical Genius, Stevy Wonder, the "Boy" genius with the "Harmonica", The Righteous Brothers took what the Everely Brothers started and went miles further................But the Beatles were and continue to be an influence on music today, Like it or not

Only because the weren't from the USA? ;)

They did more for popular music in the 20th century than any other band / solo singer (with the possible exception of Frank Sinatra) has ever done. (Oh and don't bore me with Elvis)

Strawberry Fields Forever, In My Life (although John later said he did not like it) Here Comes The Sun.

    And many, many more!

Truth be told The Ramones took what The Kinks tried to do in the 60's, and because of the timing, ran away with it.

The Beatles are still an influance today because they were great musicians, I am not going to deny the truth. The Ramones are still an influance today because they took no shit in a buisness that is full of it.

oops Scousetechie posted while I was ranting. What do you think BC?

Two bullets would be an extravagance, surely? Just line them up and use one for both...

Well BB I just wish I had an ounce of the "Talent" that all of the listed artist's had/have, but I don't, but I truly Love listening to any "Artist" when they are together "Jamming". Over the years I have been fortunate enough to have heard some of the "Greats" strut there stuff, and when you are there, I figure they give you just a part of their soul when they are in the "Zone".

They will always be fond memories I can always carry with me...............We were talking about "JellyBeans" rightLOL

Or save the bullets altogether, just sneek up behind them and yell "BOO" :p

I hate to say it, but that great musician would probably be saying that because somehow, somewhere, someone more important than them thinks this and they are afraid to go against the grain. This is how a lot of the "awards" are typically awarded... marketing. That's all this band was about.. nothing more. They're music was horrible, they're lyrics ...equally as bad.

Don't even get me started on (C)RAP. That isn't even remotely close to being called music. If I had one wish and one wish only...I would wish that genre never existed, and never would exist.
