You should be able to use Windows Explorer to just drag and drop whatever files you want copied to the CD. I presume you're talking about data (documents, photos, etc.) since most executable programs copied this way wouldn't work if you tried to use the CD on another pc.

Since CD's only hold 700mb, you need a DVD (and a DVD burner); DVD's hold 4+gb and the dual layer DVD's hold approx 9gb but your DVDRW must support dual layer burning. You'll need to use some type of imaging software to create an image of the hard drive in an .ISO (or similar) file. You'd then burn the image file to DVD.... I believe Acronis makes an app called True Image which should be able to at least create the image file, but it's not a free program. Check under Drive Utilities and under Back Up here at 'the Geeks' for possible free alternatives to True Image........ good luck!

I can tell you from experience that Acronis (in my opinion) is the most reliable. Worth the investment.

Never mind I'll answer your question?:)

I've been using True Image for a long time already. It works fine for me and I have never any problem with it. So personally I approve of your choice
