    I would go with either Gavin or Donovan. Both are odd enough to be different, and yet common enough to not be a total hassle for the kid for most of his early life.

    I say this as a 40 year old from small town Iowa with the name Sean. Which was butchered for most of my life. It still amazes me how stupid most people are at times.

    I was going to suggest Roarke for a boy. No clear thoughts for a girl, but since it looks like you had all boy names up there in the poll......

    Thanks all -- Yeah the little bugger is due 4/1 (Yeah April Fools Day)

    My family is tired of me refering to him as "Beta" and very afraid that I will really name him "Beta" (very tempted) - so they are making me settle on a name. I'd like something Irish.

    You know what will drive you crazy is this site: http://www.ssa.gov/OACT/babynames/

    The top 1000 names, sorted, back to the 1800's. Neat to look at trends - but WAY too much info to pick one.

    I was shocked how many people were named Maximo.

  22. Wenchie

    Doncha wish your baby was butch like me...? Renato is the male form.

    You could go scottish and name him Hamish meaning the Scottish form of James. The supplanter. So TECHNICALLY he would be the !V, but you got around it.

    Cian is actually gaelic not celtic, and I really like it but he's going to have the same issue I have my whole life, people are going to pronounce it wrong every time they read it and spell it wrong every time they hear it.

    Other ones I really like are:
    Keenan which means the same thing as Cian just no lore
    Reilly - Valiant

    Oh, and I still love Connor wich means Much Wanted also :p

    Don't have a Celtic name but reckon this name is pretty cool - 'Jye' (Jai). It's Indian, a variant of 'Jay', meaning victory. Jye is my son's name.:p

    Thought you might be interested in the meaning of the names you've nominated:

    Finian = Pearly white
    Liam = My Country (Hebrew)
    Cian = Suffering
    Gavin = White Hawk (Welsh)
    Donovan = Majestic (Gaelic)
