Hey guys, well im screwed again my computer will not boot past the boot screen, after the bootscreen with the little progress bar saying windowsxp, i get a blue screen with the STOP: 0x0000007B error! Ahhhh and this one is becoming a major nuisance. Yes i have seen this webpage http://support.microsoft.com/kb/324103 and alot of others, i have been searching around trying to find a cure to this! Alright the background is basically my computer was running fine, everything was just peachy and one day i decided to update all my spyware and antivirus thingys and throw the computer in safemode and run a full scan with everything while i left it for a while, so i updated everything and then went into msconfig and set the boot to go to safemode, it got a new kind of little error or popup but i stupidly ignored it and continued on to safemode, as it was restarting after the bootscreen it went straight to my new blue screen of death (0x0000007B). So i have tried numerous things with no luck, the general resolution i have found is people putting in the winxp cd and doing a repar, well i tried this, i only have the winxp pro update cd as friggen dell thought it would be funny to give none of their customers OS/drivers/application/ANY cd's at all! I have access to a winXpMediacenter OS cd, as thats what i run(dellXPS_with_winXPmediacenter) but im not sure if it will make a difference! Alright well once i get into the repair, it just gives me a full blackscreen with the dos prompt, sooo i tried a chkdsk and it comes back fine, and i cant think of anything else, i also ran a boot thingy to redo my boots but it helped nothing. I am going insane, if anyone can help PLEASE HELP! Thank you so much in advance, and if you read all of this you rock and thanks so much~!

The atapi service is probably not starting. It can be restarted from the recovery console. Got an XP CD? I'd assume so. I'll post instructions in a bit.

Yes i have recently just got the Xp cd's that go to my exact OS, although having the XPproUpdate cd did the same thing when i went to the repair option, booting off the cd. It goes to just a black screen with a MS DOS prompt and i tried CHKDSK, with no luck in fixing the issue and i tried a FIXBOOT with no luck, i have no clue what to do at this point and am at the verge of taking it to a computer repair shop~! Ahhhhhh, if there is anything at all you can think of for me to try, please help, thank you a ton in advance for your time~!

Start Recovery Console. Boot to CD, at the setup screen, press 'R'.

    Type

    Enable atapi SERVICE_BOOT_START

If no errors occur, reboot by typing exit.

Thank you for the reply and I commend your efforts, sadly this is the response the computer gave back.

    Code:
The registry entry for the atapi service was found.
The service is already set to the SERVICE_BOOT_START.
    :(

:) Thanks in advance to anyone trying to further remedy my issue!:)
