Some of you will remember from a previous thread me ranting on about the Canon Powershot S3 IS for the past year, and today I finally went and bought it. Initial comments? I am soooo impressed with it...the pictures are awesome and clear, and the camera is easy and logical to use even out of auto mode. Check it out!

Yup, that's how much is started at last year, but has come down a lot. Best Buy have it on sale at $360 at the moment (12 months interest free credit ). I already have a 3mpx from when that was the highest possible, and as photography is a big hobby of mine, I decided to upgrade. Nice 12x optical zoom :)

Hey nitecrawler have a 95/Polaris 400 - 2 stroke(still my favorite ride), and a 96 Polaris Sportsman 500 in my stable. Polaris's were really great machines, but lately sadly they miss the boat for me. The wifes new machine the Bombardier Outlander is one sweet ride, if you ever get the chance to take one for a ride you should. Just remember though, that the darn things a getting pretty damn expesive now, her machine cost about $20,000 CDN, by the time you rolled it out of the shop. One nice thing though with the Outlander series is you can get them in the two rider models, which means you can get one machine and both you and brksta can ride at the same time.........................Hey it worked for one of my riding buddies, wife(she who must be obeyed) allowed him to buy it, just because she could ride with himLOL

As for riding it when you come up to pick up your snowball order, you'll have to pry it out of my good ladies hot sweaty hands.(Good Luck)confused

Looks like a great camera Lev. I have a cannon G5 and its pretty good, I on the other hand am not that great at photography. Need to sit down and figure out how to make the G5 take really good closeups. Have to take shots for my website soon. And by closeups I mean sitting something on my desk and getting right up on it for the shot.

    Any suggestions?

Yeah, hire me and I'll come down with my new camera for the weekend! LOL

Take the images on the 2592x1944 setting size if they are going to be that close up......it will use more of your memory card, but the quality of pictures will be much better and less grainy. You can always reduce them for the website using something like Picsizer on the PC. If the item is shiny and you use a flash, you will get reflection. Use lots of natural light or if you have some workshop lights, shine those in the room, not directly at the item, but near enough to provide plenty of light and hide the shadows of the item, which would distort your photo.

Think about the color of the item you are taking the photo of. If it is dark, use a light background (bed sheets can be great for larger items), and if the item is light, use a dark background. Are we talking guitars here? if so draping a sheet or piece of material over a stand and THEN placing the guitar on the stand could work nice....ripple the excess material around the base. Buy a piece of silky material in Walmart...CHEAP! Or get creative...lean guitar up against trees...add a bit of rustic background..think outside the box.
