Zune Desktop Theme - Released By Microsoft [Makes Win XP Black]

I read that there's a new free win xp theme from microsoft called "Zune Destop Theme". It makes your win xp look black like vista and has no adaware or malware in the installation. Better yet you do not use any theme program to pull it up, as it simply becomes an option when you right click your desktop properties and choose "appearance".

The word is that microsoft calls it "Zune Desktop Theme" because they are currently promoting their new gadget the Zune mp3 player. Anyways it's free and I have a few questions about it since microsoft gives little info on it.

1. Has anyone successfully installed this and found it to run 100% fine without glitches or bugs?

2. Does anyone know if it is a memory hog?

3. Can this be uninstalled so you can make your theme back the way it was or does it destroy the original xp theme? (I ask this because during installation you have to install the theme into C:WINDOWS)


I'm a bit scared to use this because it installs to C:WINDOWS and I have no idea if there are any adverse effects. I use win xp home with service pack 2. Below are two sites with info on the theme:

It's a Windows theme, a variation of the blue Royale theme, which is standard for the Windows Media center. It uses the same file (uxtheme.dll) that Windows uses for displaying all of it's otherthemes such as the default XP theme that you are familiar with so it will use no more memory than normal. It installs into the Windows\Resources\Themes folder where all you other themes are located. It just adds another theming option and does not alter any other themes you have installed. It's listed in the Add/Remove Programs list should you wish to eliminate it. I'm using it right now with no issues or problems.

I use it on several PC's at home & work, but I dont use the Zune wallpaper, I use it to change my System Tray Colors.

Wow I just installed it and it rocks! Anybody know of any other themes from Microsoft that are as cool as this one? Cause whenever I search for themes I only find the really awful selection of ones on Microsoft's Site which are like Final Fantasy XI (nothing against the game) and Scooby Doo (nothing against Scooby either). This is the first sleek look I've seen without having to download Windows XP Blinds or one of those "Vista masks" for XP....Am I right in thinking that they probably have malware and are memory hogs? I've seen them and they just look fishy...I'm glad to see an actual Microsoft issued theme that works well and looks great!
