Windows Vista Readyboost

Does this feature on vista actualy uses your flashdrive and turns it into ram? so does a 4gb flashdrive compare, or almost compare to actualy having 4gb of ram? I am using it but in my computer it does not show an increase of ram. However when i use it, it says that my flashdrive has been all used up.

With readyboast as i understand it, its an extended type memory, ie used after all your normal ram is filled, and as far as showing up in the config check, i don't know if it will.

Well yes and no, Readyboost is more like disk caching where common used smaller I/O files are cached so that they can be quickly accessed as from flash drive its slightly quicker than that of a HD seeking the file as these seem to load upto 10x quicker than a HD locating them, if the cached file is not found on the flashdrive inthe readyboost cache the system then falls back to locating it on HD, its ment to be really helpful for systems with less than 1GB normal Ram.

Its not too good for large files, but it will speed up your PC a bit, however you cannot use the extra ram, its the OS that will allocate the data to the size of space you allocate from your flashdrive, also note not all USB flashdrives will work.
