Dice Wars - its War but with Dice

Okay, this has cost me so many hours of playing that I thought i would inflict it on the rest of you.

Played for an hour.

 

I have got as far as clearing out 1-7 players, but 8, not got that yet. *sigh* no sleep tonight.

 

That was fun and exciting... beat the 4 player level..... took me a bit to understand the cncept, but then I flew.

Amen to that. I was supposed to have been working over the weekend.

The thing that gets me, esp on the 8 player map, is if you just keep skipping turns, you [and any other player] build up to a max of 2 columns of dice and then keep storing the extra die from each turn. So what happens is if another player takes say 6 areas of your bit of the board and if they have a store of surplus dice then each area instead or having only 1 or 2 dice in them at their turn end, will suddenly have max columns of dice destroying your advantage. Took me a while to figure that out.

Hey what can I say, yea I have bookmarked it, but rather access it here at MG

 

i decided that as soon as it stops being on the first page i would stop playing the damm thing. so now look what you gone and done!!! i can win almost always if i start first, and about 50% of the time if i dont. by the way....the computer cheats.

 

Sorry about that Laurie, and yea the computer does cheat, every time I loseLOL

Sheesh I am surrounded by cheaters, what ever happened to just "Playing":mad .............Okay now I have taken the moral High ground, how did you guys cheatLOL LOL LOL By the way I win about 80% of the time if I am careful and chose the right game to play, and I use the default 7 players

 

i usually just play with two. i don't understand HOW you can cheat, so i think birdbath must have been joking.

so here's how to win almost every time.
1) always start first.
2)start with the most dice and 'bet against' the territory with at least one fewer dice.
3) never bet against a territory with the same number of dice.
(the odds are stacked in the puter's favor. you will lose two out of three 'even tosses'. when its the puter's turn it will win two out of three.)
if you have no territories next to you with fewer dice, and if you have at least three territories surrounding one with the same number of dice, than you can try it. but no fewer than three chances.

most people try to play according to the divide and conquer rule. or some such other strategy. instead play solely according to the number of dice. try to play the one with one fewer dice, but if you have alternatives use the maximum advantage available.

Not sure. I think that if you are the middle or last player then things are often better becasue all the land around you has already fought a few turns leaving only little piles of dice behind. This way you have a greater range of places to attack, especially if you started with at least one large stack of dice that everyone else is afraid to attack, and assuming you survived everyone elses initial attack.

for me the key tactic is this; ONLY the largest group of adjoining 'lands' count towards your score. If you have two groups of 'lands' one of 4 and one of 5, your score will be five. If you link the two by taking a land in-between then your score rockets to 10. Linking your lands together is the absolute key in my opinion.

Just a thought.
