Just successfully got through an intense infection with the help of you guys! This is definitely a top-notch site. Thanks. I have come to realize that my current Security Suite, Panda Platinum, is totally worthless. Malware routinely turns off the protection against trojans keyloggers and hijack attempts. I read the "how to protect yourself from malware" guide and decided the 1st thing to do was delete Panda and go with one of your recommendations. Panda can't be uninstalled in add/remove programs because I keep getting the message "C:\PROGRA~1\COMMON~1\INSTAL~1\PROFES~1\RunTime\11\00\Intel32\Ctor.dll The specified module could not be found.
Also, how do I know if my AT&T wireless router (only running one computer with a corded connection) has a built in hardware firewall? I don't use the Yahoo Virus protection, so I believe it should be OK to use any of the reccommended free anti virus programs.
As a side note, can HP recovery be deleted and reloaded? I toggled mine back on after cleaning up the malware and it is non functional. Any response is appreciated. Thanks.

That sounds like a problems with InstallShield. Is InstallShield installed on your PC? Was it shipped with InstallShield and Panda already installed on it?

Wrong forum to ask this question however no one will be able to help you unless you give the model number. ( Try going to an auto parts store and telling them you need a part for a Chevy and not telling them the model of Chevy. ;) )

Are you trying to compare a manufacturers recovery partition to System Restore? They are not they same thing. If you deleted HP's recovery partition then you nolonger have a recovery partition, but that has nothing to do with System Restore.

The computer came with InstallShield and it is still there, but I bought and loaded Panda myself :( I don't ever recall deleting a recovery partition: sounds like something I would remember. My HP recovery desktop icon is actually a shortcut to Microsoft System Restore and when I click Microsoft System Restore, there is a clicking sound but nothing happens. I will ask the hardware question in another forum with complete info. Thanks for the response.

You should possibly try reinstalling Panda first, and then reboot (don't skip the reboot), and then see if you can uninstall it. If not try using this: Your Uninstaller! 2006

Actually this issue with Panda and your problem with System Restore (don't call it HP Recovery) should both be dicussed in the Software Forum. You may just need to reinstall System Restore from the C:\windows\inf\sr.inf file by right clicking on it and selecting install.
