I have defraged using window defrag and Auslogics. I have also done both in safe mode. I still have an 18% block of goop that won't defrag, any suggestions. I'm stumped and frustrated.

First question - what version of Windows are you running?

Second question - is it possible that they are files that won't be moved? There's always a certain amount that won't be moved but is the 18% spread around or grouped and not being moved?

give perfect disk a try, after it looks at your drives it tells you what you should do, then all you have to do it hit one button it's a no brainer

and i swear my computer defrags faster (after its initial smart-placement run-witch takes a while ) and starts faster-because it strategically places all the necessary startup files where they can be accessed the fastest.

you can also defrag individual files.

    later.

I'm using XP, after I have defraged the 18% is in a block @ what apears to be the end of my hard drive. I also , after this post download Diskkeeper Lite it did not work either, but it did give me a lead to the stuff below.
This big chunk is a document and settings/all../ file. I have recently been ripping and burning some audio cd'sand then deleting them this seem to be withing the time frame my defrag woes started. I have seached for the files with "search" and can't find them.

i like diskeeper - especially the new 2007 version. after you install it, it'll defrag as files become fragmented - without user input. pretty sweeeet. :drool
