I own a small Tibetan Yak ranch in Wisconsin and would like to add a webcam to our site for any interested, albeit bored, surfers to view our Yaks, chickens, wife bottle-feeding the baby Yaks, or me accidently breaking something with the tractor. I have a fairly reliable DSL Internet connection with 1.5Meg down but only 320K up. I haven't any idea what to use or how to get this going and am looking for some input. I do have wireless in my house and the house overlooks one of the pastures and the barn area. I was looking at the Toshiba IK-WB01A but before I plunk down a few hundred bucks, I thought I'd ask the experts on just what I need and how to accomplish this.

I regularly view a pond in africa, africam.com, where there are occasionally some very awesome animal views and that would be great to have something like that.

    Thanks in advance,

    Dave

I don't really have any suggestions or helpful things to say, but WOW! Tibetan Yaks! How cool is THAT!!! :D :D :D

I agree Yaks are cool. They are too underrated. What the heck does "Yak" mean anyway? And I have to ask, why does one own a Yak farm? I understand their use in Tibet - but in the US? For meat? For fun? For pets?

Please post a link if you get things going. Yaks are cool.

We raise them mostly for other breeders but also for their meat. Very tender, lean, and sweet tasting, not at all gamey. I will definitely post the link with the webcam when I get it going but our website is www.thegreenbayyakkers.com

Now funny story, okay not funny but a story .... I was looking to set up the same system for a group that I run that wanted to do outside webcam broadcasts of its work. we looked at setting up simple CCTV based systems
that used wireless CCTV cameras linked to a nearby comptuer through a TV card, which also acted as a web server. Can do all kinds of smart things through the software linked to such a system. Was suitably impressed for this to also form part of a larger research project along the same lines.

I have eaten Yak by the by, and its not for me, but they sure are pretty to look at. thought I would mention it.
