Perplexed

    I have PC Tools Spyware Doctor version 5.0.0.177 and I get my updates daily. Last week-end Spyware Doctor reported:

    4/6/2007 11:45:26 AM:406 OnGuard: System Event Blocked
    Threat Name - Trojan.FakeAlert
    Details - Spyware Doctor has blocked an application attempting to access a file.
    Risk Level - High
    Infection - C:\Program Files\Palm\NotePad.dll

    I sent them information through the Malware Detective wizard but have heard nothing yet. Is my system really infected with a Malware and can you help me get rid of it?

    No you are not infected! Spyware Doctor is wrong. This is for your PDA. This is what is commonly referred to as a false positive.

    You should uninstall CounterSpy now and you should do the below which was requested in step 6 of the READ ME.


    Uninstall the below old versions of software:
    Java 2 Runtime Environment, SE v1.4.2_03
    Java 2 SDK, SE v1.4.2_03

    Make sure you reboot after uninstalling the above!

    After reboot, now install the current version of Sun Java from: Sun Java Runtime Environment

    If you need the Sun Java Development kit you can get it here: http://java.sun.com/javase/downloads/index.jsp
