    Hey dudes/dudets,

Had a computer in needed to change the motherboard, change the board and plugged in old hard drive... wouldn't boot down to being different motherboard and old install of Windows XP Home SP2.

Done a repair of Windows XP Home SP2 and the OS boots into Windows and everything is working fine sorted all the drivers and so on cleaned up the windows install the best i know of and is running perfectly fine.

Only thing left to do on it now is Activating Windows.. problem is whenever i click to get the window open to go through the steps with it being on the phone or on the net the activation program crashs and says "Mircosoft Out Of Box Experience has encountered a problem and needs to close"

Is there a way of getting this sorted without reinstalling Windows? Or a way to repair the actviation program?

Look forward to hearing from you lot soon!!!

    Thanks.

Did you install or download IE7?

If so, uninstall/remove it and try again.

OK, I just saw where you did a repair. Make sure that IE7 is not anywhere on the system, installed or not.

Look under Add/Remove remove programs and see if IE7 is listed. Be sure that the "show updates" box is checked also.
