two explorer.exes?

    hi i run vista ultimate and i noticed that there are now always two explorers open in taskmanager, i checked them out in securitytaskmanager, but they both appear to be legit, i have had the same problem before with xp, its fully upto date and i use the following:
    avg free, 7.5
    spybot S&D
    adaware se personal
    windows built in firewall, cos there arent really any that work with vista yet!confused
    firefox 2.0.0.3

    all fully updated, ive tried the microsoft malicous software removal tool, and scanned with all of the above, i dont know what or why i have to of them? any ideas? :major i-CONICA :major

    Having multiple explorer.exe sessions open was not necessarily an issue in previous versions of Windows. One is always running because it is your system shell. A second will show if you open a Windows Explorer or My Computer.

    As far as what Vista does.....I don't know. I don't have it and don't plan to get it any time soon since I have no need for it. This question would be better served in the Software Forum.

That's my choice at the moment until I learn Vista's FW if ever. confused The PCtools gave me problems and ZA wanted to install an AV also. I said no but on update there it was again and the otherrs just sucked real bad.
