I bought a new laptop (Everex Stepnote XT5000T) and it came with a recovery disk when I use the disk to install Windows Vista it splits the 100gb hard drive into two 50 gig partitions and doesnt give me any option. I want to make this laptop dual boot XP and Vista, I figured out what I need to do to dual boot it but what I would like to do is have it partitioned 75gb on drive C and 25 gb on drive D and have XP on drive C. The only thing I can think of is to edit the recovery cd to change the partition size but I have no idea how to do this. Its not very important that XP is on drive C but I would like to have it 75/25. I tried partition magic but I get an error message "init. failed: error 117 partitions drive letters cannot be identified"
    Thanks in advance!

    Welcome to Major Geeks.:major

A suggestion, maybe contact the manufacturers of Everex, or the place where you bought it from, and tell them you want a new recovery disk with your preferences, or maybe without any partitioning at all.

Then you can use Partitioning Software to split it how you like.;)
