Video Card Problems

Ok here's the deal. WHen I reboot my computer, my video card stops working. According to the device manager, i get a "this device failed to start code 10". I have a temporary solution that if I reinstall the driver from nvidia that it makes the video card work (i think) and i am able to change the resolution using the nvidia control panel. When I go to display properties however, there are no tabs and only the themes are visible. As for the display thing, I've done all the registry edits that are floating around the web and nothing seems to work and I'm assuming these 2 problems are related. Below is my hardware information.

Intel E6600 Processer
2gb (2x1gb) 800mhz Silicon DDR2 Ram
Gigabyte Nvidia 7600GT PCI-E
Samsung 500gb SataII Harddrive
D-Link Wired networking card
Sound Blaster Audigy 2
BenQ 16x DVDRW PATA

Did you recently upgrade anything? Would you happen to have any old conflicting video card drivers?

Shouldn't matter, but do you know your motherboard brand/model?

 

No upgrades at all. One thing I thought might be doing it was the fact that I took the harddrive out and hooked it up to a PC at work that was quite different from my home system. I used a little trick to show hidden devices in the device manager that are no longer connected (shown in grey) and uninstalled them all (some return but no vga/video cards).

Motherboard model is 965p-s3 , Intel chipset.

I also noticed these in the event viewer

The IPSEC Services service terminated with the following error:
The specified module could not be found

and

The IP address lease 192.168.0.104 for the Network Card with network address 0015E94A3B34 has been denied by the DHCP server 64.59.135.150 (The DHCP Server sent a DHCPNACK message).

 

I'm totally pulling my hair out trying to figure this out. I should mention that in the last 3 days I've been doing several virus scanners and cleaned a bunch..one was some email worm zelatin, another was Tibs.R and I really cant remember the rest but there was a few more.

Is it possible that this is virus related and if so, how can I tell? I"ve run every virus scanner on the planet and cleaned out everything it found and so I'm at a loss as what I should do from here.

What's funny about this problem is the fact that i fix,sell and build computers for a living. We get all sorts of crazy weird problems that seem impossible to fix and yet we always manage. I guess thats my luck...i can fix almost everyone elses computer within a day or 2 but when it comes to my own...4 days and I still cant figure it out.

I thought that maybe doing a winxp repair or reinstall would work but when I tried to enter my xp pro key during installation to a new harddrive, it would not accept the key...neither on an xp sp2 or sp1 disc..strange since the key was accepted using a 9-1 xp cd but those usually never work anyway.

 

can someone reccomend another site I could post my problem on and find a solution?
