I have a new computer that is custom built. But I can't get the computer to install XP from the CD.

Make sure your optical drive (CD/DVD) is primary in your BIOS. Press the key at startup (F2, F10, Del) as needed and look in your boot options. Make sure your optical drive loads first in the boot sequence then save changes. Reboot with Windows XP CD in the drive.

You need the SATA drivers for your motherboard, as the Windows XP installation disc does not include them. They should be on an included floppy disc. If not, you can download them and make your own driver floppy. During the installation, you will be prompted to press the F6 key to install the drivers.
