Anyone interested in Paranormal Experiences? Are you a believer in the afterlife, alien abductions, astral projection etc??

Can't say I believe in alien abductions or astral projection.

I do believe in past life and meeting familiar people in future lives. Oh, and I loves me some tarot...play with it a little.

And as far as psychic stuff...for sure! I think most people experience it to a certain degree while others are just far more sensitive to it.

I think its all TOSH,I believe every single person who claims to be a pyschic is a conman.

Theres s loophole in the law here that lets pyschics practice as long as they claim its for entertainment and they do not claim to be contacting the dead,I hope this loophole is closed in the near future,I especially want TV pyschics to be stopped they take advantage of vulnerable grieving people

I wish our society could advance beyond this hokum, sorry just my opinion:)

Really?? I can not imagine believing it is all hokum (heh..I don't think I have ever used that word before..its a good one)

I don't believe in the people who say they talk to ghosts, but I do believe in the people who 'know something is going to happen to a loved one or that it did, before it happens' and things like that. I think just as some people have a much better sense of smell than others, some people have a much better sense of whatever it is that psychic energy comes from. There have been a lot of things in the past that people believed or didn't believe that were Not scientifically proven, that are now. I think at some point they will be able to to medically prove this. IMO anyway. ;)

Psychics are fake. If someone could reliably predict the future they wouldn't be charging $20 a session. I have friends of the family who are psychics... they're fake. They just go on gut instincts and give vague responses. One of my friends is also married to a gypsy and he explains how they "train" psychics in their culture, etc.

Sooooo....you have Never thought of someone right before they called you? Or thought of someone you hadn't talked to in a long time and they email or phone you? Happens to me all the time and I don't get paid, haven't paid any psychics, tarot readers, ect., or, to be honest, even think about psychic ability in my every day life unless someone brings up the topic. You can call it gut instinct if you don't like the word psychic, but it happens to people all the time...that connection that can't be explained.

Sure it can, it's called coincidence. People tend to remember things such as you described and don't remember the times when such things don't happen. There have been thousands of psychological studies done on it.

That is about the extent of my argument. Some times I think you just need to take things at face value and not go by all the liars out there that are trying to rip people off. I've just heard way too many stories directly from 'normal' people who aren't involved in that type of lifestyle that make me believe that there are some people who are ultra sensitive to something you can't see.

::shrug:: again my opinion

;)

Laura I have to agree with you. I have a daughter who is handicapped mentally. We can be outside and she will tell us the phone is ringing before it does,, and who it is. It has happened lots and lots of times. Or our cell phone will ring, and she will say "so and so" is calling. She has done this for years. I don't feel it is coincidence.

People who don't know her have seen her do this and think it's weird. We just accept it as her.
A reasoning for her maybe is her mind isn't cluttered with other things and she is sensitive to it? I really don't know.

My youngest daughter also has an ability to forecast future events. She spooked her friends in high school to a point where she suppressed it.
Myself, I just believe loved ones who have passed have contacted me in subtle ways. So yes, I do.

Exactly! It's a sense... just like sight, smell, touch. Some people have a more highly developed one than others. And your daughter probably developed that one for reasons you have said.

I just find it sad that people can't open their minds to things that aren't 'scientifically' proven.

Even magicians do things seemingly paranormal or impossible.

I choose not to believe in psychics.

Aliens...well one would have to be pretty naive to believe that we are the only ones out there in such a vast universe.

My opinion, take, leave it, whatever.

15. LauraR

LauraR MajorGeeks Super-Duper Administrator Staff Member

LOL...and if you watch them on tape, you can usually figure out how they do it.

A better comparison would be religion. Why do people believe? There's no proof of anything really, but yet people insist there's something to it no matter what religion they are. If religion isn't paranormal, I don't know what is.

Lots of interesting and valid arguments on both sides being put against your query.

Personally:

• Not sure about alien abductions - not seen enough evidence to convince me

• Astral projections - there is some good evidence out there based on scientific experiments that present some arguments (including Leonarda da Vinci's) - jury is still out as far as I'm concerned on this though - need more proof before I can believe.
• Afterlife? I'll wait until I get there before I can comment;)
• paranormal experiences - in this case - guilty as charged - do believe in it only because of first hand experiences (though at the times of occurrences I thought it was my imagination, but I was soon convinced along with other witnesses it was not imagination). There have been too many instances and experiences to be ignored. Not something people openly speak about without being thought a loon, so I choose to keep my cards here close to my chest.

Someone posted comments re psychics. There are lots of shams out there preying on the vulnerable/gullible. Personally I believe there are some genuine ones and I believe in solely because of some criminal cases I have studied where psychics were used and by reading the cases, the prosecutor's documents along with police reports, there were no shams in these instances. The police actually cracked the cases thanks to the psychics. There was one case that made me smile where one poor psychic was so accurate she became a police suspect!

I've had a few paranormal experiences, so I don't rule anything out. I try and keep an open mind about things in general. Just because I haven't experienced something doesn't mean it's not possible. Doesn't mean it is, either . . . ;)

I think sometimes under certain conditions our souls can talk to each other-kind of like whats called esp, but not everyones soul will talk, and or listen, as much as some others, genuine psychics are in my opinion just people who are more in tune with this.

I used to have lots of psychic/spiritual experiences when I was younger-things that would get me locked up if I told people lol- things that would freak me out-
but alas life is so normal now, I think I just grew out of it.

I beleive there is life out there other than us. Aliens. But not little green men or grey men, something we have never seen or could probably even comprehend. Something that maybee dosent have limbs and dosent eat food and drink as we know it! Like the blob or something!!!

:D

I do beleive theres a lot of stuff we dont understand but I am not sure it is the afterlife or spirits. I just have a feeling there is something more? If you get what I mean?!

I have links to ghost cams because I'm curious. Had 'em for 6 months and haven't seen a thing. I believe that there is some stuff out there not explained yet but to take a stand and say this is real or that exists is like Copernicus saying the sun revolved around the earth. All the evidence wasn't in!

We are all born with this psychic gift...IE:'imaginary friends appear when we are youngsters, coloured shapes in are darkened bedrooms, voices in the closet...etc" Unfortunately, parents condition us to think it is all in our imaginations, therefore children in the early stages are automatically conditioned to shut off the gift. The ones who do have the gift as adults are the ones that had parents who nurtured them or that they accepted the gift. There are many facets to the human brain and scientists are still boggled with wonder of the attributes of this human organ....Food for thought.. :)

I have, several times. Including predicting the births of 4 children to the color of their hair before their mother's knew they were expecting through dreams.

Rather scary actually.

And ghosts... I can sense them so they try to communicate. They dont understand I can't understand them, just know they are there. My dauhter can talk to them though, she did it often when she was tiny. It was pretty scary confirming who these people were later.

But i think it's only scary because most people are hardwired to not believe it's normal and that they are infact crazy and or evil depending on what church you subscribe to.

All in all the human spirit it far too aware of itself and it's surroundings to truly die, and it can leave imprints of great emotions on the the world. Seeing the imprint is the paranormal. But it's not abnormal. Just different.

Theres reasonable explanations for all the mumbo jumbo about psychics, people who claim they have been abducted and probed, and all those videotapes of some "UFO" in the sky. Just another conspiracy theorists day :)

Besides do you really believe some buffoon who claims that he can heal someone with his hand. something science and technological advances has not been able to cure. frauds and cons, every single one of them

Well firstly, there are a lot of fakes, shams, and just wishful thinkers as with most things. Those that are doing public performances for cash are almost invariably in the above mentioned categories.

That said, I think, but cannot prove in tangible terms that there is a lot more to the human condition than just physiology and psychology. I think there are a lot of mysterious phenomena that we know very little about, with regard to the human mind, and those non-physical aspects. It's not scientific, because it's not dealing with conventional matter/energy, time/space, however it can be just as rational, and verified by reproducible results. Key factors in any axiom of truth.

32. Grumbles

I DO believe that you can heal someone with their hands; to an extent. Terminal illnesses no, but emotional problems and stress related illnesses can be healed.
Healing by hand (reiki) is not psychic, but an alternative therapy.

After my mother passed I started finding coins (mostly pennies) all over the place. At christmas she would bring me small bags of wheat pennies. Once I was talking to my daughter on the phone, had already cleaned, while talking I turned my chair around and there was a hair pin on the floor. I do not where them had none in my house but my mother did.
The day before my mother had her stroke I had gotten out of bed to answer natures call, I got to thinking about my grandmother (who had passed a couple years earlier) the feeling she was there was so strong I expected her to either appear or say something any second. I pleaded with her not to, it would scare me to death and got back to bed as fast as I could. She worried over my mother excessively while alive. The next day I received a call from my aunt asking me to check on my mother because she sounded like she was drunk, and then the phone was busy. She did not drink she had a stroke. I believe my grandmother was trying to let me know. There you are.

Another incident happened 3 different times was when I visited my youngest daughter and stayed in my granddaughter's room, I heard someone say hey or hi plane as day. Actually it was in the day these took place and they were a mans voice (none in the house at the time)

Yeah, I am, and have bee since grade school, when I saw a special on the Discovery Channel on UFOs. It just kinda ballooned from there, into other aspects of paranormal activity, such as telepathy, the afterlife, and of course more alien stuff. I personally have seen at least two ghosts, seen one UFO, have been possessed by a demon through a Ouija board, and especially in the last three years, have seemed to be experiencing some telepathic ability. Now, I'm normally the kind of person who has to see some sort of physical proof in order to believe something, so for me to say I believe in those sorts of things is, at least to me, pretty incredible and somewhat convincing.

Im a father, and I say that is rubbish.

My daughter didn't start having ANY of those symptoms till she saw a little thing called TV, or had books read to her. Its called imagination. Nurturing it to be believed as real doesn't make someone pyshic, it earns them a straight jacket.

My two cents.

38. Grumbles

It is very interesting to hear what you all think about this subject. As you can see everybody has a different take on it. You have all had different experiences (or not) leading to your conclusions. I have never needed anyone to tell me what is real and what is not and I've never felt the compulsion to follow others in their beliefs. I have been fortunate enough in my life experiences to have been given the opportunites to see/hear/feel for myself what others tend to block out. I think myself a very lucky person.

I am a very grounded person and not at all gullable. I do not suffer from delusions (before you skeptics out there suggest I do). I have experienced a wide range of other worldy phenomenon, such as:

hundreds of astral projections/out of body experiences (including visiting deceased relative)

altered states of conciousness

Seeing spirits, lights, auras

Hearing spirits and other phenomena

Predictions that came true (some from when I was a child)

to name but just a few....

I am not posting this message for any other reason than to tell you that there is existence beyond this one. How you deal with this knowledge is entirely up to you. I would never push my opinions upon anyone, as everyone has to find their own truth. However, if by posting this message it has got all least one of you thinking then its been worth it.

I am not a so called psychic or spiritual guru and even I have my reservations about a lot of people who claim to be what they are not.

I have had experiences from childhood leading through into adulthood and quite frankly I wouldn't have it any other way.
