I know nothing about computers. My drive wasn't reading my dvd's. i got hp online help involved. they finally told me to uninstall my drivers which i did. problem is now my drive has been renamed and the computer is telling me the location doesn't exist. is there any way for me to fix this? i can't even play music now. arrrrghhhh!!

I am assuming this is a XP computer. The reason I mention this is I am an advanced user on Win98, but learning XP. One of the tricks is to right click "My Computer", select device manager, and remove the problem device, in this case your DVD player. The next time the computer boots it sees a new device and installs the drivers.

Problem is, I'm not sure this is how it works in XP.

Well, thanks for the reply anyway. :) That's exactly what the tech had me do. It did reinstall the drivers but also renamed the drive. I asked her if we could reverse it but she didn't even answer that question. not sure what that means. lol she ended up suggesting that i take it to best buy to get it fixed but i'm saving that as a last resort. :)

Do you know how to do screenshots? It's easy, and might help us help you.

BTW, what was the name, and what is the name now?
