I've signed on for a workshop to learn the tarot and wonder if anyone has done something similar. My friend says it's not something you can be taught.
Does anyone fancy coming with me. it's June 10th in Bury, Greater Manchester? rolleyes

Tarot is fun. I play around with it but haven't had any of my decks out in a while though.

Have a good time at your workshop.:)

Tarot readings are (for those who believe in it) for nutcases.

Thats my opinion, love, leave it, but never disbelieve it.

To each their own of course. Don't believe everything you see, or hear.

If your female, cute and have pigtails then I supose I could re-arrange my schedule and get out of a med clinic to go on that day :)

    Thanks for you comments.
I am going to go to the workshop 'cos I've paid £35 and I've been to workshops at the centre before and it's not weird or whacky there - it's got a professional setting and they're all really nice people but seem level headed.
I've had a good think about it with help from some of your comments and am not as worried now - it's just some of my friends who have been winding me up.
I am going to go and enjoy it and reserve judgement about how serious to take it.
    Thanks
    Claire:cool

    Pigtails?

    Are those really necessary?

Cute and female would do it for me, but then, I'm in Texas.

    OH yes BILL :)

I'm actually 20miles or so away from Bury.... soooooooo ;)

But Claire, if you feel you want to learn all about Tarot, then just laugh off your friends teasing as you may really like it, and if you do great, if you dont at least you can say "at least I tried something new" :)

    LOL

Only men could turn a tarot thread into a discussion on the merits of pig tails. ;)

MY fault, kinda goes hand in hand with my weird day.... dont think a tarot reading would have predicted most of it :)

The words "Tarot", "professional" and "level-headed" do not belong in the same subject.

    Just my 2c.

I don't think he meant those kind, Lev. Did you get them from Burning_Monkey's plant? or the local butcher shop?LOL

Don't understand a need to learn Tarot card reading...hopefully you're only doing it for fun. Friends in the past started with Tarot card reading, then onto ouijja boards and a slow decline to other things....Personally I'ld be inclined to spend my time and money towards more constructive, personal benefiting projects. But then that's my 2 cents worth...to each his own.

    Cheers

Actually, Tarot is pretty fun and the decks are awesome if you are into art or computer graphics. THAT would be my 2 cents worth. ;)

    Hey LauraR

I'm familiar with Tarot cards, it's history and application.

In my humble opinion, it goes beyond being a "fun thing" and becomes a concern when it is taken seriously enough to spend that or any sort of money on...I'm in agreement with Lev's comments of:

The words "Tarot", "professional" and "level-headed" do not belong in the same subject.

I believe in myself and making my own future/destiny before I would believe in Tarot cards. But then, to each his own.
    Cheer

I am familiar with them too, but wouldn't say I take them seriously and certainly don't decide my future by them. I agree with you that people who do are nuts. I'm just saying that not everything needs to be taken as seriously as some seem to take them.

And btw, they do have great art on them...

probably even some pigtails...;) <--for halo

Tarot's not for me I'll leave it at that but as with everything these days all the information you could ever need to learn something is on the internet for free confused

I hope you enjoy your workshop, should be fun. Don't worry about others teasing you about Tarot; you will soon know more than they will ever know about the cards and what they represent.
Every 'reader' has a different perception on the cards, so all I can advise is go with your own heart on what you see.

Let me know how you get on :)

So why go to School or College then? Shall we burn down the libraries :D

Who needs libraries and college, when there is Tarot?

I'm talking purley from an economic point of view,if theres something your interested in you can grasp whether you'll like it or not by following guides posted everywhere on the internet before shelling out money, especially since I believe that they are all con men and want to take your money punter or stundent, but its a moot point as the class it seems has already been decided upon...

I never said that Adry ;) No wonder you roll your eyes :)

I was quoting another person saying that all the information you need to learn is on the Internet!

i was however trying to debate this comment with the originator :D

BEst of luck with the workshop. I got into the tarot a few years back, originally started due to an interest in fantasy artwork, but found it is fun for breaking out during parties and such. Like I always say tho, I would rather be hated for who I am than loved for who I am not ;)

Boy we are getting serious here at MG lately. :(
Example is the UPS thread, now this one.
Lighten up folks, remember "different strokes for different folks", before PC and Homeland security makes us all conform, or tries to.
My AUD$0.02. (Not worth as much as a Yankee $0.02) ;) Bazza
