Fastest Laptop ???

What specs to require for fast ?
Biggest frustration is time spent waiting for loading and operation of programs on laptop (not interested in desktop).
Like to keep different programs and large files (bookeeping, planning, scheduling... excel, quickbooks, outlook, etc) open at same time.
Will be using XPpro for at least a couple more years.
Laptop price under $2000 ?
Guess other features such as min 5hr or so battery life, wifi conn, dvd/cd burner, durability, security, easy transfer to PDA, etc would also be nice.
Thoughts on best buy (and maybe other features I should be looking for) ?

 

There's no specific "fastest laptop", a lot of the decision comes down to size, other features desired, and importantly for me, styling. Most of which is opinion based.

You'll be extremely lucky to find any laptop with a 5 hour battery life.
2-3 hours is usually the maximum.
You may need an extra battery if you have to have 5 hours not connected to AC power. Bazza
PS: A 17" widescreen model with also give you a separate numeric keypad.
Something to keep in mind, although they are much more bulky. Baz
