Another question... I hope I'm not annoyin anyone with all my questions but hey I'm nosy and I like information, so if you don't like it, well........tough :p

I think that songs can and do affect a persons mood. When ever I'm pissed at guys, I like listening to Kelly Clarkson or someone of her nature. When I'm just pissed in general, I like good, loud, angry music (Good Charlotte/Linkin Park usually does the trick) and when I'm sad, I like sad, depressing music. When I'm done... I usually feel better, not so pissed or upset or sad. I guess when I listen to those types of music it feels as though I've vented to someone (and we all know that when we are upset venting is usually the first thing we do) and then we calm down about it, right confused

What about you all? Do you do this or am I just a weirdo confused (wouldn't be the first time i was a weirdo :D )

As I understand it music speaks directly to various areas of our brains. It really is an emotional language.

Don't worry about bugging people, we're all relaxing here together. I've become very addicted to MG in the last year!

most definitely music affects my very soul. Love most of it, blues is my favorite. And questions are what this place is about.

Do songs effect your mood, absolutely! Sometimes they can even bring back emotions or feelings years later.

Music hath charms to soothe a savage breast, To soften rocks, or bend a knotted oak.

Heav'n has no Rage, like Love to Hatred turn'd,
Nor Hell a Fury, like a Woman scorn'd.

Yup your right --I work from home so i get to listen to alot of music--

When I need to get up and moving I need some good rock or metal

In the afternoon to mellow out it is either blues or reggae.

And going to sleep at night something from my longhair collection--Brahms, Beethoven, set on real low as i gently drift off to sleep-

    Music soothes the savage beast

i spent 18 years in the Marines so military music brings it all back for me, i can listen to most music but the modern stuff with the heavy bass beat is something i can easily switch off here in Belgium the obsession for the young guys is to get the biggest speakers possible in the car and drive round with the volume at maximum.

Hahaha, it's the same everywhere. Living in the country I can hear them coming a mile away, our future deaf middle-agers.LOL Yes, music is a great healer and/or joy maker. I listen to some really cooking jazz and I have a grin on my face and chills up my spine.

Music definitely affects the mood. It can cheer me up when I'm depressed, and make me cry when I'm happy. (but not make me depressed)

Btw, as to the folk with the booming base. I always manage to look on the bright side, by remembering that Tinnitus has been known to drive people crazy.:)

Yep, music affects moods in all of us. In fact, if it isn't you're unlikely to be enjoying it, and it would be a bit pointless. Animals have been proven to also be mood affected by music. Lab rats have a tendency to become more soothed with classical music, and more agitated with Rock music. I don't blame them, lol. Some even theories that plant growth may be affected by music.

Music definitely affects the mood of the listener. I myself, I'll listen to just about any kind of music, but it depends on what I'm in the mood to listen to. Generally, it's rock and roll, from stuff like The Lovin' Spoonful and Janis Joplin, to when I'm in a headbanging mood, old school metal like Black Sabbath and The Scorpions. I do also listen to a lot of blues, country, old r&b, soul, singer/songwriter acoustic stuff (like Jim Croce or Harry Chapin), and even a little bit of rap and hip-hop. I couldn't even begin to list all of the music I listen to, even on a regular basis, because I simply listen to so many different artists and genres of music. I guess I'm an easy person to please when it comes to music.

Yep...I have songs that remind me of someone.

    Certain songs definitely strike chords.
