retrieve files from SD card..how

i know how to do this but this is my situation...

so again, my 20gig HD said bye (the sound of death "cha-chak, cha-chak") the problem is i have hundreds (maybe almost thousand of photos) and i have no idea how to get them back and my last option is the 1gigSD card, 256mb SD card and 16mb MMC card that i used in my Canon a430...

Now my question...is there a way or software that i can use to retrieve them without buying a card reader coz my canon i USB and when i attached it, my pc recognizing it a external memory (correct me if im wrong)?

You're saying that your printer has inbuilt card readers? And your computer recognizes them as useable space?

 

im very sorry Mada, i did not specify correctly
The canon is my digital camera.... when i connect the digital camera my pc recognize it as useable space... some software that i used before to retrieve files only recognize are the drives buit inside my pc (i.e. HDD,slave) but not external

i will ask again, is there a way or software that i can use to retrieve them without buying a card reader?

I use this for my Fuji camera. Of course, if your PC recognizes the camera as a removable drive, you should be able to access it like any other drive through Explorer.
