Is there any way to keep the Transfer history (and speed info) for more than 1 day in Opera v9.21 ?

As it is set now, it wipes the Transfer history each time I boot up (daily):cry

    Save As is greyed out.:cry

    There is File-->Sessions--> Save/Manage.
Can I use these and build up a daily/weekly/monthly record of files downloaded, including speeds, etc.
Any hints on how to achieve this?

25 hours later and still no replies, so I guess no-one uses Opera v9.21, or cannot help with my query.( Bazza

I know you have a specific cleaning routine at the end of each PC session? do you use CCleaner? if so try this as CCleaner also deletes the history files and cookies of Opera as well as IE, FF.

Open CCleaner then as Cleaner option is defaut click the Applications tab and untick under Opera Internet History ( may or may not work, but I did notice a Opera download.dat file in the CCleaner analyse scan )

Also doublecheck in Opera Preferences that in Advanced > History that empty on exit is not ticked.

Thanks, mate. :major I'll have to check the default settings in the whole rash of prgrams that I use daily, including CCleaner. :D

CCleaner, Cleanup!, Spybot, AdAware, AWC, EmptyTempFolders, etc. :D

I was hoping for something simpler in Opera as standard, as a lazier way out Bazza

sadly even if you set something in Opera, its likely your raft of cleaning tools would delete the history file anyway.

Yeah, I know. :cry I was hoping to be able to save the cumulative History each day, before I logged off and started my daily PC housekeeping.

I think Opera may save history ofn the Transfers page anyway.confused

Last 2 days here for me have been busy as we have have been preparing for #1 sons' birthday. Not sure what housekeeping programs I have run over the past 2 days.

Back to "normal" today :D, and I will run all my usual programs with my current defaults and see what happens.

    Thanks again, Halo. :) Bazza

Starting working my way through my daily PC housekeeping programs.
SmartClose and Cleanup! did not wipe the Opera Transfer History.:)

Third one run, CCleaner, with my defaults, wiped it instantly.(

I've downloaded another program so that it appears in the Opera Transfer History. Then unchecked the ticked Opera Internet History box, in CCleaner Applications tab, as you suggested. :)

Re-ran CCleaner, and the Opera Transfer History is still there :major:cool

3 cleaning daily programs down, many to go. ;)

thanks Halo, and ever onward. Bazza

PS: do you know where that Opera Transfer History file may be stored?
It is not in the Opera folder, or sub-folders? confused

I thought I had the problem solved. I went through all my PC housekeeping programs, one by one, and only CCleaner was wiping the Download History.

Thanks to Halo, I was able to alter a default in CCleaner to keep the Opera History.:cool

Great I thought. Now when logging on today, something wiped the history. :cry:cry

Back to the drawing board. I have lots of programs that startup in normal mode and a few more load when I logon to MG daily, so lots more investigations are on the menu. :p

Yup, should be in this location Opera\Opera\profile\download.dat but for full link you will have to re-tick the CCleaner option I mentioned to turn off and run Analyze in CCleaner then look down the list of junk to be deleted for Opera listings then the download.dat file and the full link will be location, hightlight it in CCleaner press CRTL+C and then in any Address bar click in it then hit CTRL+V and then GO.

Reason I mention to re-enable that option and scan with CCLeaner is that Vista dir's are different to XPs.

mine is this C:\Users\*User Name Goes Here\AppData\Roaming\Opera\Opera\profile\download.dat 364 bytes

    then re-untick it again.

Thanks Halo. I figured out (later) that might be the method of finding it.
As you mentioned, I'll have to download another file, turn on the default in CC and check the deleted items, for the location.

    Thanks again, Halo. :major Bazza

    Hi Bazza

It has to be one of your apps thats causing this as I downloaded a few apps yesterday to test some theories out, I turned off Operas clear on exit and CCleaners Opera Internet History setting and ran ccleaner before turning off my PC lastnight, just booted it up today and looked in Operas Transfer History and the two files I downloaded are still retained there.

.........looks like you have a few apps settings to go through.

    14 cleanup apps?

geez your house must be spotless..... might be easier to type the download data into an excel spreadsheet, the analyse the data, could produce charts on download data.

I don't run them all every day, but each one (seriously), picks up stuff the others don't.

Actually it doesn't take that long and I have found that you can run 2-3 at one time with no conflicts, eg., Spybot, Pestpatrol and AdAware at the one time.

That's why I grin to myself when CCleaner is spoken of as the best / ultimate / greatest cleaner of all time. ;)

No, house is a mess. Too much time on computer, and MG. :D

That's what I am after, an Excel Spreadsheet. I already have one for my other Broadband speedtests. I'd post it here, but MG doesn't accept *.xls unfortunately. Bazza
