Its been awhile since I was here for assistance, and currently my computer has been acting sluggish. While i was browsing websites, the WinAntiVirusPro webpage came up and i recognised it from the problems I had earlier. Im pretty sure i still have the programs from this website that are needed to find the problems. So tell me what you need and ill post it.
    Thanks

Re: I am still getting popups and other junk

You were here too long ago for the programs you downloaded to be up to date. Also you should have started a new thread since this is not a continuation of your previous problem from last year. I will split this off to a new thread.

Run this Virtumonde aka Trojan Vundo Removal and do not attach the requested log right away. Run it multiple times until it comes up clean and then attach the final after also doing the below. Be sure to follow all steps. The READ ME has changed since you last used it.

Please follow our standard cleaning procedures which are necessary for us to provide you support. Also there are steps included for installing, renaming, running, and posting HijackThis logs as attachments.
    • Run ALL the steps in this Sticky thread READ & RUN ME FIRST Before Asking for Support
    • Make sure you check version numbers and get all updates.
    • Very Important: Make sure you tell us the results from running the tutorial...was anything found? Were you unable to complete any of the scans?...Were you unable to download any of the tools?...Did you do the on-line scans as suggested? etc.
    • After doing ALL of the above you still have a problem make sure you have booted to normal mode and run the steps in the below link to properly use HijackThis and attach a log:
Make sure you also rename HijackThis.exe as suggested in the procedures. Use analyse.exe for the new name. This is very important due to some new infections going around.
    • When you return to make your next post, make sure you attach the following logs and that you have run these scans in the following order too:
      • VundoFix log
      • CounterSpy - only for Windows XP, 2K, & NT users
      • AVG Antispyware log - ONLY IF NEEDED you were not able to run CounterSpy. - only for Windows XP, 2K, & NT users
      • Bitdefender - from step 6
      • Panda Scan - from step 6
      • runkeys.txt - the log from GetRunKey.bat
      • newfiles.txt - the log from ShowNew.bat
      • HijackThis
NOTE: You can only attach 3 files in a single message so it will require that you use three messages to attach all of these logs!

After going about halfway through the read and run me list, my computer is running much more smoothly. Should i continue to the end even though there doesn't seem to be a problem anymore? I have posted the logs that I have so far. If needed I will continue. CCleaner seems to have solved the problems and I have not yet seen the WinAntiVirusPro website again. If it comes back i will be sure to go to the read and run me and start from the beginning again.

That should be all the files, I stopped after running the shownew.bat.

Yes you really should attach all of the logs to make sure all of your malware has been removed. Especially since with just those few logs I still see issues. It's your decision in the end, but just be advise that you still have infections.

As I suspected, there was more to do.

First please uninstall the CounterSpy trial since we are finished with it now.

Run HijackThis (select Do a system scan only) and select the following lines but DO NOT CLICK FIX until you exit all browser sessions including the one you are reading in right now:

    R3 - URLSearchHook: (no name) - {EA756889-2338-43DB-8F07-D1CA6FB9C90D} - (no file)
    O2 - BHO: (no name) - {7C554162-8CB7-45A4-B8F4-8EA1C75885F9} - (no file)
    O3 - Toolbar: (no name) - {E0E899AB-F487-11D5-8D29-0050BA6940E3} - (no file)
    O3 - Toolbar: (no name) - {DE9C389F-3316-41A7-809B-AA305ED9D922} - (no file)
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [SunJavaUpdateSched] "C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.6.0_01\bin\jusched.exe"

    After clicking Fix, exit HJT.

Now download The Avenger by Swandog46, and save it to your Desktop.
    • Extract avenger.exe from the Zip file and save it to your desktop
    • Run avenger.exe by double-clicking on it.
    • Check the 'Input script manually' box.
    • Click on the magnifying glass icon.
    • Copy everything in the Quote box below, and paste it in the box that opens:
    • Now click the 'Done' button.
    • Click on the traffic light icon and OK the prompt.
    • You will be prompted to restart, OK the prompt and your PC should reboot, if not, reboot it yourself.
    • A log file from Avenger will be produced at C:\avenger.txt
    Now run Ccleaner!

Now attach the below new logs and tell me how the above steps went.

    1. Avenger
    2. GetRunKey
    3. ShowNew
    4. HJT

Make sure you tell me how things are working now!

Reminder Note: Once we have determined you are malware free you will need to disable System Restore, reboot, and re-enable system restore per step 8 of the READ & RUN ME. This only applies to if using WinXP or WinMe.

things seem to be running smoothly, while i was getting the last 6 logs, my computer slowed down dramatically and often times, my ram seemed to be going to places that i could not identify. I would have over half of it being used when i only had one or two programs open (that normally doesn't happen). My ram right now is where is should be, and by tomorrow i can tell you if the system startup has gotten any faster.

you never prompted me to get a new HJT log, i can run HJT again and get a log. just tell me what to do, im not going to assume any steps here. Ive been waiting for this problem to get fixed. and im glad its almost done.

oh and also, when i clicked the stop light button for avenger, a lot of error messages came up saying that it couldn't do certain things, all these came up before it asked me if i wanted to reboot. I think it listed the things in the beginning of the log

Yes I did! Read what I asked for at the end of message number 9 again.

Your other logs are clean. Just delete the below left over folder from CounterSpy:
    C:\Documents and Settings\Joann\Application Data\Sunbelt Software

    It's clean!

    Yes that's okay!

If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:
    1. If we used Pocket Killbox during your cleanup, do the below
      • Run Pocket Killbox and select File, Cleanup, Delete All Backups
    2. If we used ComboFix, you can delete the ComboFix.exe file, C:\ComboFix folder, C:\QooBox folder, C:\WINDOWS\nircmd.exe, and the C:\combofix.txt log that was created.
    3. If we user SDFix you can delete all the SDFix related files and folders from your Desktop or whereever you installed it.
    4. If we used VundoFix, you can delete the VundoFix.exe file and the C:\VundoFix Backups folder and C:\vundofix.txt log that was created.
    5. If we had your run FixWareOut, you can delete the Fixwareout.exe file and the C:\fixwareout folder.
    6. If we had you run Avenger, you can delete all files related to Avenger now.
    7. If we had you download any registry patches like fixme.reg or fixWLK.reg (or any others), you can delete these files now.
    8. You can delete the ShowNew.Zip and GetRunkey.Zip files and the files that you extracted from the ZIP files. You can also delete the C:\newfiles.txt and C:\runkeys.txt logs that were created
    9. If you are running Windows XP or Windows ME, do the below:
      • go back to step 8 of the READ & RUN ME to Disable System Restore which will flush your Restore Points.
      • Then reboot and Enable System Restore to create a new clean Restore Point.
    10. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:

just a question that isn't related to the problem, how do i activate the password on my administrator account. when i start the computer into safe mode, theres an administrator account listed, but when i'm in normal boot mode, that account isn't listed and i cant seem to be able to access it to change it.

The Administrator account is only supposed to appear in safe mode. Boot in safe mode and login to it. Then goto Control Panel, User Accounts and select it and then change or enter a password if you don't have one.
