A company call Conduit made a really neat MajorGeeks.com toolbar for us. I'm not usually a big fan of that sort of thing, but it's pretty cool toolbar and we are thinking of releasing it.

I’ve been testing it for sometime and have no trouble – No crashes, infestations, anything like that. They are backed by trust-e and it is funded by Google search.
We could use a bit of a broader base for testing, and would appreciate any feedback that anyone has.

You can get it here: http://files1.majorgeeks.com/MajorGeeks.com.exe
    It only works with IE.

    Thanks!!

Note that this is only supported for Win NT, 2000 and XP. Those of us still with W98SE are not worthy. :(

Sorry CP, not being a fan of either "ToolBars" or IE can't really help, but it is a cool looking "Bar" kudo's on those that did it for you, and am certain it will be a hit with the Toolbar fans, Great Work another of the many reasons we all love M.G.

I too am not a fan of toolbars, but since this is one of my favorite sites I installed it anyhow.

They need a button to go straight to the forums IMO. (if it's there I haven't found it yet).

The email notifier is a useless function for my setup, I will never use outlook, ever. There are strong advantages to using web based email, and lots of choices too.

    The email thingy supports webmail.

Opps, guess I'll take another look. Given the amount of spam and phising I get I'll probably leave it off, this having just occured to me. I could link it to my Gmail, since I never use it yet and intend to reserve it for my private email address. Hotmail sells their addresses, and then doesn't give you the option to junk the mail directly if mail from one of their customers is open (at least, that is my interpretation of what is happening).

Does it come with a reliable removal tool?

If it updates itself how does this happen?

First thing I tried, and yes it uninstalled completly or nearly, it does leave an empty folder in program files called majorgeeks.com ( this could have also been a Vista thing as deleting folders from PFiles needs Admin Auth )yes as part of the uninstaller you get taken to the devs webpage to comment on why you uninstalled it, but you are not obliged to fill it in.

Right in add/remove programs as well as directly in the toolbar options. See pic. (Had them custom code that for us actually):cool

The auto update simply looks at their server to see if I have made any changes to the bar and then grabs them. The whole bar doesnt have to be re-installed or anything.

Autoupdate can be turned off in the options as well.

Uninstalls completely on XP. So, definitely a Vista thing.

Since Halo says it works fine on Vista I will give it a go, but tend to use FF mostly when I have the option and not a big toolbar fan personally.

I'm a new user here for both the site and the toolbar. So far I like both...the radio is cool and just added my own station. I'll keep checking it and post more comments.

I've been driving the new toolbar all day...It gets me to places (some I didn't know existed) faster then I could before (less clicks) but it's like being in a new house at night. (not used to using toolbars). I will leave it installed on my IE 'cause I see it as a good tool.;)
confused Now I'm wondering if I can figure out how to get K-meleon to recognize it as a plug -in. If I do and can get it adjusted to my liking, I'll let you know.
CP, you and MA sure make this site seem more and more like a brotherhood, neighborhood, or a club :major than a business site. :cool Thanks.

I do like The M.G. toolbar, as toolbars go. Looks classy, easy to navigate works on I.E. 7, Opera, XP and Vista. Yep, on the empty folder left behind in Vista, but that's not a biggie.

That said, I'm not a big fan of toolbars, and don't use I.E.7 as my default browser. All in all, god job. :major:cool

yeah ... a brotherhood... I think that sums it up
    perhaps in my next life?

I wanted to ask if the toolbar will get rid of the google toolbar?

I have had a day to play with it and it is certainly good for navigation of MGs the only fault i have found is if you load MGs from the MG/Google search engine log into the site and the acknowledgment page comes up and immediatly goes back to the page you were viewing but i am not logged in so i go through the process of logging in again plus i tick the box remember me but it's the same result.

i had to log in from another browser to do this post.

on the toolbar you have a small down arrow for MGs, news and other ways to search it's this small MG logo that i loaded the site from,

i have loaded the site from IE7 and then the tool bar navigates perfectly and a good deal faster than IE

i spend half my time trying to get rid of tool bars that miraculously appear all by themselves. i use yahoo and they are the biggest culprits. but google also finds its way there. i use firefox. is there a way of getting rid of the 'toolbar folder'? (you can delete the 'getting started' etc,., but the bar stays.)

It looks like maybe it's your bookmarks toolbar.

Try clicking on 'View' -> Scroll over 'Toolbars' -> Click on 'Bookmarks Toolbar'

See if that works. If not, I'm not sure what you have showing.

I agree. A "Straight to Forums" button would be a nice addition. Shouldn't be that hard to add in FF, but I'm not IE/ Micro$oft wizard...

A direct one screen button would be nicer. I tend to come here first, downloads second.

I would have to edit the .xpi file.

You guy need to put this where it can be easier to find. I have used it for a long time. Just got a new PC and it took quite a bit searching to find the toolbar so I could download it.

The mail notifier is a necessity for me.

For the purpose I use it for it still works great -- email notification. I hope it is a supported toolbar. But if it quits working at least I will know why. Then I'll have to go out and try to find another email notifier.

    Thanks for your info.
