Email Hacked?

Hello,

Lately I've been receiving a lot of fake "Message Delivery Failed" type messages. Today when I went to send an email, an Alert displayed (copy attached) advising I've sent over 250 emails in a day, which is false; I typically only send 3-5 a day. Is there any online program to remedy email from this type of thing? I'm using Mozilla Thunderbird. Thanks.

 

Change the Password for that account immediately - preferably from a different system.

You should also consider testing that system (which has TB on it) via the steps required in the Read & Run Me First Malware Removal Guide and after completing all steps attach the text logs in a new thread in the SPECIALIST Malware Forum (not this one).

 

I changed the password. When you wrote to change it from a different system, did you mean from a different computer? That's what I did. The email gets forwarded to Thunderbird from GoDaddy.

Will check that thread. I already have some good malware/cleaning programs running: Malwarebytes, PC Matic, CCleaner (which I read was sold and had problems on older computers but assume it's okay on newer ones with a recent browser.).

NO! Only use the tools specified in the Read & Run Me Guide! They are all free.

 

Where can I find the Read & Run Me Guide? There is so much info here that I could not find it.

Also, I noticed there is mention of "the other forum". Which forum is the other one? Thanks.

 

I linked you to it directly in post #2 as well as linking you directly to the Specialist Malware Forum. Unless you read things very carefully (including that Read & Run Me Guide) you will inevitably make mistakes and problems for yourself.

 

Sorry about that. Just revisited post #2. I do recall that some of the instructions for fixes are complicated; will give it a try. Thanks.

 

Follow the steps in the RRMF Guide one by one carefully exactly as written, following the links to the scans for your specific Operating System. You should not at any time rush the steps - do them carefully and methodically. Do each step that you can. Any step you can't do for any reason, make a note. Then when you post a new thread in the specialist forum explain any difficulties you had and a Trained Expert will help you there.
