I've set my system to alert me when I get an update download and the choice as to when to apply it, but I don't think there is a 'never' setting.

:(I just got a security update that I installed.

No issues from it as far as I can tell. Hopefully it remains that way.

The article explains that computers that are two years or less old should not notice any change, but older computers will.

I don't think they have issued the "fix" yet.

With my internet already being very very slow if my pc also slows down I may as well just give up doing anything online!!

Grrrrrr......thanks, TimW. Yeah, I'm not looking forward to these updates. My units are all older units.

Not considering it has borked numerous systems.

My Win10 and Kali Linux SSH server, along with Kali client all patched!
At early stages system performances across LAN seem as previous.

More testing needed to consolidate this....

My browser/gaming box is still doing the unpopular "at risk" scenario. It gets scanned once a week or more if I notice strange behavior. Other than that there is no protection. So far, one virus in 18 months. If you are worried about the speed hit and have a dedicated gaming computer (absolutely nothing on it or through it you care about) this route works well. Just be sure your network isolation is good and realize you gain speed at the cost of security. My anti-virus is a full restore from an image I keep secure and updated. I can restore in less time than it takes to get an anti virus solution here on MG, let alone chase down the virus.

I have another system for all the work I need to keep from prying eyes.
