You don't use the gateway address to enter the router's admin menu.

The gateway device is typically the modem, not the router.

The gateway address is that assigned by your ISP.

The router's admin address is typically something like 192.168.1.1.

Now if you have an integrated "residential gateway" device, a single network device that integrates the modem, router, 4-port switch and WAP (wireless access point) into one case, then check your devices user guide.

Or see this Default Router Login Details - All Makes and Models - ProPrivacy.com and hopefully yours will be listed and you did not change the defaults.

Thanks, all....I finally got into it, all to create a 2.4G netwark because the robovac Diane bought can only wor on a cell phone connected thru 2.4..their app doesnt work on 5G. Isn't that redicuous??

I think the original Nintendo DS was like that, it only worked on "old" encryption methods, definitely not 5G.

Not really. 5GHz is great for connected devices in the same room, or maybe one room away from the WAP (wireless access point). But the effective range significantly degrades after that, especially as additional barriers (walls, floors, and ceilings) and other obstacles (big metal refrigerators, file cabinets, metal wires and pipes in walls) come in between the WAP and the device.

2.4GHz has a much greater range and is able to easily penetrate multiple barriers. That might be significant with a robovac on the distant end of the house staring down a fresh pile of dog poop, wondering if it should try to sweep it up!:confused::rolleyes::D
