    Hello,
My buddy and I have been trying to get his PC to recover Windows 11 from a USB drive(He has not disk drive). He can get into his bios. But when we try to boot from the USB recovery flash drive, we get a message that says: Unable to recover.

We are not sure why this is happening. At one point, there was only one drive showing is Bios. The other hard drive appeared after he inserted the recovery drive.

We managed to get the drive I think that his Windows is located on to ask us to point it to an ISO recovery image, but we weren't able to get the prompt to acknowledge the USB recovery flash drive.

Im hoping that you can better help me to help him.

You don't just need a bootable drive. It's asking for a Recovery Image which you use Windows to create. It's a full blown snapshot in time backup of the PC. Did your friend create one of those?

    Hello,
He did not make one of those. Would reinstalling windows be an option now?

Yes. But if you want to save your data, use the "Reset" option. If that doesn't work, allegedly there's a reinstall option which preserves your data, should you require it. Any app that didn't come with the PC will be gone, however.

okay, we were trying to reinstall Windows today. We got to the point with the Windows 11 installation media where it said it couldn't locate and drives. To get a storage driver, click load driver. (Image uploaded). I guessed that we needed to install the drivers to his Nve which I found here. https://semiconductor.samsung.com/consumer-storage/support/tools/. But I wasn't sure. my plan was to come here and ask about next steps. The file is an executable so we couldn't point the PC to files on the flash drive. And I haven't a clue how to work around that on a PC that isn't actually booting up.

I continued to scour the internet and then we found this video. , I shared the video with my friend because this seemed to be the very issue he was having. As we were watching in tandem he deleted a partition on the drive that housed Windows 11. (he'd found a different video) The Windows 11 installation started but did not complete.
He's ready to quit. I am not. There has got to be a way to start over fresh with this SSD and get his laptop up and running.

So, what do I need to do to reformat and reinstall windows? Thank you in advance. This has been a lot I know.
