Should I Install Optional Bios Update?

ASUS VivoBook M1605YA

The ASUS app MyAsus recommends an "optional update": "BIOS update for windows"
This laptop which is just 1 month old runs beautifully.
My philosophy has always been never to install "optional" updates.

Do you agree what I should leave well enough alone and NOT install this update?

I installed that a few weeks ago and everything has been running fine. I didn't notice any changes.

This is the description. We have different models of the Vivobook. This is the closest model I could find to yours.

If you register it on the ASUS website you should be able to easily get to the downloads for that model from your account page.

When it comes to bios, if all is working fine, I would leave it. If something goes wrong during update it can cause lots of trouble up to bricking your PC.

 

Yea fair advice. In my defence had about 60 days left on my 2 year warranty so wanted to go ahead and install or update anything ASUS recommended now. Once that warranty is gone I will be more selective.

2 years and the MyASUS app never steered me wrong. Windows is also a lot more resilient then it was in the past. I also know those two points are my own false sense of security.
