For about 14days my bios shows this message after restarting pc.
I do everything it needs to do, switch the two modes and after reboot the os starts normally. The next day, or after next reboot, the same thing again. Is it maybe related to some setting somewhere else that it keeps switching to sata? Or does it need some mb update, or controller drivers? Or something with the Optane Memory driver? I've looked into it, but everything is up to date. Anyone know what to do about it?
    Thx for any advice
    Peter

First, when you exit the BIOS Setup Menu, make sure you select "Save and Exit".

Second, The BIOS losing settings is a common symptom of the CMOS battery failing. These are inexpensive so I suggest you replace it.

Unplug the computer from the wall, touch bare metal of the case interior to discharge any static in your body BEFORE reaching in, then pull the battery and get another. You can get a new battery for a couple dollars at just about any battery/watch/camera counter at your local home improvement or discount store. Most likely it is a CR2032 or equivalent.

Do NOT touch the new battery with your bare skin as skin oils promote corrosion and attract dust. I put a clean sock over my hand. Be sure to touch bare metal again before reaching in. Upon first boot, go straight into the BIOS Setup Menu and set your date and time, and verify your drives are detected and the boot order is correct. Then "Save and Exit" to boot normally. Again, the "Save" part is very important.

the first thing what I did was to replace the cmos battery. Really hank you for the detailed description of the replacement procedure
btw it's the second battery, I changed it 2years ago. Changes in bios done, saved, rebooted. Result - same, black screen appeared again. So, the problem is somewhere else, deeper. I have the impression that it's related to the sata-raid driver anyway. How to find out more thoroughly?

Not sure what is happening but if you are not running a RAID, that should be disabled in the BIOS.

It seems you are not alone on this. But replacing the CMOS battery resolved it.

Sorry I don't have a solution but you might want to check out some of these.

I do recommend you back up any data you don't want to lose.
