Hi! I love my little worm, because he entertains me. :) But sometimes I forget to let him come out and play. :( In Win11 (and Win7 and 98), how do I have a program start up with Windows? Also, when I start Win11, I get the web browser, which is what I want, as I usually go online upon log in, but it's the wrong browser. Now, I have a little fish crawling all over my desktop, but he bores me. :( How do I remove a program from startup?

Startup Manager For Windows Free, but I want to disable the browser at startup but don't quite see the program listed and add a different browser but don't see an option to do that.

im not quite sure that is completely the issue, what is the program that gives you a desktop pet?

Right now, Worms Deskmate 1.1 and Girb. I want them to load automatically at startup. That's why I'm asking. I succeeded in disabling some programs I didn't want at startup, though. I need to look in Startup Manager for the appropriate option. :)

    I looked. I didn't find it. :( I'd better try this site.

I looked. One program was blocked by my antivirus software, and an instruction page didn't give me exactly what I needed. How do I add a program to startup?

Step 1: Open the Run command box by simultaneously pressing the Windows logo and R keys.
Step 2: In the Run command box, type "Shell:Startup" (without the quotes) and then hit the Enter key to open the Startup folder.
Step 3: Plonk a shortcut to your favourite program in this Startup folder.
Next time you restart, the programs in this Startup folder will run.

"Shell:Startup" is for the current user logged in.
"Shell:Common Startup"is for all users on the computer.

Thank you. I just did it. Now to wait until tomorrow to see if the changes will take effect. :)

It worked! :) Now, I want to disable the browser at startup and replace it with a different one. I can't find the icon for it in Startup Manager, though. I just tried again and found the possible item. I have to see the next time I reboot the system. :)

I have what I need to do that: I just don't see which item is the browser. I have Greenshot and can take a screenshot of the application I'm using. Should I?

Which browsers have you got installed on your system? and which browsers do you observe starting up and whic hs your preferred browser?

Also, check your default browser setting:

To set your default browser in Windows 11, open the Settings app, go to Apps > Default Apps, select the browser you want to use, and then click "Set default" for the relevant file types and link types. Make sure to check both the HTTP and HTTPS sections to ensure they are set to your preferred browser.

I don't know what happened, but the wrong browser stopped starting up with the system: maybe the last time I tried, I found the right program. I'd better add the browser I use to startup. BTW, I use MS Edge. :)
