Desktop Icons And Right Click

    today I went to right click on my desktop icons and it wont allow me to do so. any idea why this is happening and is there any tool to fix it?

    Have you rebooted? What OS?

    yes I rebooted I am using windows 11 pro

    Is this a desktop or laptop w/ touchscreen?
    Have you tried SFC or DISM repair?

    You can check this.

    What's the latest patch you have of Windows 11 professional is it 22h2,23h2,or 24h2

    I'm not having any problems on 22h2. Do you remember what you where doing be for this happened maybe i can recreate it.Is the context menu completely missing or is it hidden.

    I think i found the issue.Where you messing around in Group Policy at any given time.

    This here i found hides the Context menu.

    If the setting is Enabled it will hide it.If not Configured it should be visible.

    See if this works.Type Group Policy editor in the start menu.

    Make sure you go to Administrative Templates then click on Desktop option

    I wouldnt even know where to start playing around in the context menu

    the context menu is completey missing I wasnt messing around in it and I am trying to figure out how to get to it to fix it as we speak

    well I got to context menu and tried changing things around and still nothing happened, do you know how I can get a hold of microsoft and let them know the last thing I did was a windows update and that is when everything changed

    What happens if you press the screen for a few seconds? Does it give you the menu then? Before you go all nuke and pave - try SFC (system file checker) or a DISM repair. Does 11 have restore points? Roll back.
    The video I posted from YT has all the how to change policy or edit the registry, but that might be a last ditch effort.

    well I got a hgold of microsoft and they tore my system apart before they fixed the problem, but the context menu is working now after all they did. I will be up all night and a good whole day getting my system back to where I want it

    yes win 11 has restore points and I didnt even think about using it
