In a short while, ATT/Cricket will no longer allow text to email or email to text. My wife and I have flip phones and do this a lot. Texting on a flip phone is a massive PITA. Is their a program or something I can download that will allow me to do this?

Addendum: If this is posted in the wrong place I offer my apologies. I couldn't determine where it should go.

I'll look into the other, thanks. BTW, Textbolt wanted $30 p/mo.

Some flip phones had an email client, yours don't I take it? Or you are just wanting to be able to type an email on a computer (nice screen and keyboard) as an alternative to texting?
When flip phones were big, there were some apps where you could plug the phone into the computer and basically remote control the phone using the mouse and keyboard. But technology has moved on since those days.

Long story, but in a nutshell that's it.

In the address field, type the following:
10 digit phone number followed by the recipients carrier
    For AT&T @txt.att.net
    For Verizon @vtext.com
    For TMobile @tmomail.net
    For Sprint @messaging.sprintpcs.com

    For Cricket, I show @sms.cricketwireless.net

I've only ever used AT&T and Verizon since that's what the few people I text are on.

Thanks @plodr but that service is ending.
That's my problem. Is there a free way around it? That's my question.

So the phone doesn't have an email client? You could still send message from the PC to the phone...

Not after this month. ATT/Cricket will no longer support text to Email or Email to text.

No, I mean straight up EMAIL to EMAIL.... does the phone have an app for email? Instead of using a number and a relay, you use an email address and a mail server... see it is basically the same, that is why they are doing away with (most likely), most people have an email address.

I checked and it does but the phone has to be connected to the Internet. Ours are not.
