I am having an issue with updating Windows on a PC.

The PC is Acer Aspire A315-21 V1.12*

The operating system is Windows 10 Home (x64) Version 22H2*

I know Windows Updates are slow, especially compared to anything else I update. However, for over an hour now it has said the following:
It surely should not be static like this. I have no idea what to do. I would appreciate any advice.

You aren't alone...I've had to walk away because it takes so long...my download speed isn't fantastic, but 98mbps should be sufficient.

This recent update took approximately 10 minutes on my Windows 10 22H2 machine.

Are you still waiting on this?

    No!

It is a laptop and due to its age it doesn't hold charge for too long in the battery. When I set out updating it was fully charged so I didn't connect it to the mains as I thought there was no need. Not long after I posted my OP I went back to the machine and checked and it had switched off as the battery had gone flat.

After connecting it to the mains and rebooting it I found that "Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool" was no longer listed in the updates but the Windows update was. It still took over another hour for that to finish downloading and installing.

It is not my internet connection that is the problem. I recently upgraded to fibre and everything else I do is really quite fast. Windows Updates, I find, have always been slow. Any other software I update is done very quickly.

I just went thru update hell. I decided to get it over with since I would be out to physical therapy for at least an hour. Got home a little over an hour later and it was at 13 percent. Decided to watch a movie and after an hour and a half, it was still at 13 percent. Screw it, so I shut it down. Turned it back on and was greeted with a screen saying it was undoing the changes made. That took close to an hour before the computer brought up the splash screen and I could finally get back to work...ARGGG!!!!

I'm thinking of buying a quill and some vellum. It has to be less trouble.
