Went to restart computer to copy files to new computer and now it won't start. The green light on the back is on, and a green light on motherboard is on. When I push the start button, the green power supply light on the back goes off and nothing happens. I've checked connections, replaced CMOS battery, confirmed there's power, and also disconnected everything else from the computer. Any ideas? Just want to get some things transferred before it dies, which it may have done. It is an HP Pavillion P6000 series.

Have you reseated the RAM modules?

What do you mean by "moved". From desktop to floor? Or New York to Los Angeles?

When a computer fails to boot after a "move" that typically means something was knocked or wiggled loose during the move. If the computer was "transported" by vehicle, it is possible the CPU cooler was knocked loose when the vehicle was flying over rough railroad crossings.
What connections? You need to check every cable, especially every power cable. Also the fan cable as most computers will not boot, especially if the CPU fan is not detected.

I am not a fan of "reseating" (removing and re-inserting) RAM, but for sure, pressing on them to make sure fully seated is wise. And if, when pressing, you learn it was not fully seated in the first place, then completely remove and insert a couple time to scrape clean the contacts. Same with the graphics card, if you have one.

Just make the computer is unplugged from the wall and you touch bare metal of the case interior BEFORE reaching in.

    From a web search:
Here are some things you can try if your HP Pavilion P6000 series won't boot:
    • Perform a hard reset
Turn off the computer, unplug the AC adapter, and remove the battery if possible. Then, press and hold the power button for 15–20 seconds to drain any residual charge. Reinsert the battery and plug in the AC adapter, then try turning on the computer.
    • Try recovery mode
If Safe Mode doesn't load, you can try manually triggering recovery mode. To do this, force shut down the laptop three times during the boot process by holding down the power button when Windows is loading. On the third attempt, Windows should launch Automatic Repair. You can also launch from outside Windows by pressing F11 while restarting the computer, then clicking Troubleshoot and Reset this PC.
    • Check for hardware failures
You can run the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics (UEFI) to test for hardware failures. To do this, turn on the computer and immediately press ESC repeatedly, about once every second. When the menu appears, press F2. Then, click System Tests, and select Fast Test. If a component fails a test, you can write down the failure ID to share with HP Customer Support.

      • If the video-cable connector is in a cluster of sockets, the motherboard may have integrated video. If the video-cable connects to a socket away from the cluster, check that the graphics adapter is properly seated.
      • Disconnect nonessential devices
Try disconnecting all nonessential devices, such as printers, scanners, external hard drives, and USB flash drives. Run HP PC Hardware Diagnostics, a built-in tool to identify hardware failures. Access this by pressing "esc" then "f2" during startup. Run the "Fast Test," and if no issues are found, proceed to the "Extensive Test". Note any failure IDs

It might be that you just want files from the Hard drive.
You could always find the way to change the hard drive. Instead connect the recovered drive via a 'USB to hard drive' to the new computer to copy the relevant files.
Hopefully you will have found a method.
