Unusual Windows Update

Today, Windows Update offered me an update the type of which I have never seen before. The update is called Intel Corporation - Extension - 31.0.101.2134

I don’t know whether to install it or not. My PC is running fine. I don’t want to install this and find it creates a problem.

I don’t even know what it is. Has anybody any ideas what this is?

If it’s some software to run some hardware on my PC I don’t want it. I’ve had advice a number of times from different people that it’s better not to update software for hardware if your PC is working fine.

 

It appears to be a Graphics driver update. If your PC is working fine, you can take it or leave it. My 2 cents. I lean to the, if it is not broke don't fix it, but to each their own. It is typically easy enough to roll back drivers if they cause issues.

If your system is using a customized graphics driver, it might behoove you to leave this one alone. You could always check with your machine's manufacturer to see if they've updated the drivers specific to the machine.

I would have left it alone and not installed it.

When I checked today it is not listed on Windows Update. Therefore, it is either not being offered to me or somehow it installed itself without my permission and without me knowing it. I suspect that latter is unlikely so it is obviously no longer being suggested.
