Sometime when I wasn't looking,MS upgraded me to Win11 from Win 10. I only noticed because I was looking for something in the system...I guess if I didn't notice, I shouldn't really give a fu*k...

Aside from the fact that they shouldn't have done it without your explicit consent, welcome to the new world. o_O

It looks like I still have 10. But, that will change soon. Then, let the customization begin...

It's still recommended to go into the privacy and security settings and turn off all the data collection MS does these days. And also turn off Copilot.

I know a few things about windows 11 first off it sucks.Back when it was 21h2 and 22h2 it ran fine at least for me.Then they started to change all this UI crap adding advertising and other nonsense that basically broken the system. If you try to mod it...It will get even worse for you.You are better off going back to windows 10 and using the LSTC version which i have done.

Here is a link if you want it.https://archive.org/details/Windows10EnterpriseLTSC202164Bit

it runs perfectly fine. All the UI integrated junk on windows 11 run's like crap.If you try to mod or delete anything properly it will either reinstall it self like a virus or just end up breaking some thing else.I spent two years trying to figure out windows 11 and it's becoming the new vista i mean it's bad beyond bad.A lot of people have gone back to windows 10 due to this mess up.

Or just go back to windows 10 Pro and disable the annoying nag system update after it updates.

@Goddess Bastet I had some of that and I in place updated to 25H2 and it went away. i've been on 25H2 for about a month, multiple PCs with no real issues.

Thanks @xrobwx71 I’m currently running 25H2 on an unsupported laptop, I’ve restored back to July 1st & the first start works but after running program updates, MS store updates & driver updates the next restart gives the problem, I’m wondering if one or more of the driver updates is the cause.

I seem to recall that MS packed some future updates (optional/Insiders?) ready to incorporate when the next upgrade bump comes along: also, given that MS Windows is used by a few corporations and updates can now be shared across local networks, it makes a lot of sense for MS to pack the basic future Upgrade data now, hopefully allowing every alternate update to be smaller.

It's more than likely. Great troubleshooting path on your part!
That's one of the first things I do is turn off Windows ability to update drivers. I prefer getting them from the manufacturer if possible.

I truly dislike the way M$ has been heading. They are making it harder and harder to control my own PC the way I want it. I currently am running A very modified win11 IoT enterprise. It does not come with so much bloat, and does not receive all the bloat updates. I have stripped edge, and the antivirus it comes with, out. Not because it does not work well at catching stuff, but it gets in my way with stuff I know to be ok. For most people it is more than fine, but I play with things too much, and it is just in my way. Edge I just do not care for, too much shared with "home" for my taste. I also have a second machine I use a lot, it has mint linux on it, trying to wean myself off windows. As soon as I completely retire, I will not use windows anymore.

So far I’ve narrowed it down to OneDrive update, iCloud (store app) upgrade, Steam upgrade or notification popups which I had to disable via the registry. I uninstalled iCloud & blocked OD & Steam from starting with Windows, along with the registry edits all so far is OK.

Update: In the end it wasn’t any of those programs but Secure Boot, once I’d re-enabled it the problem returned (I’d disabled it to install Win 10 image). Until early Dec I had no problems with it.
