It installs but setup process says some components may not work. The ap won't open from a shortcut or the ap's file in the directory. Also the CCleaner 7 service listed in Windows services won't start and reveals an error.

I, too, have found this problem. I don't know you version of Windows @tritonobx. Mine is Windows 10 and I wondered if the new version of CCleaner didn't install properly on my PC because of my Windows version.

I have resolved my problem for now by doing a System Restore, which removed CCleaner 7 and restored my previous version.

I await updates on this issue to see what happens.

One site I checked said new version was compatible down to Win7 which I run. I rolled back to version 6.39 for now as well.

CCleaner site now confirms that v 7 is not supported in Win7.

On my Win 10 machine I got rid of it and reverted back to the previous version. After thinking about it for some time I finally decided to download it on my Win 11 machine thinking surely there'll be no issues with the latest version of Windows. I don't like the new version. It doesn't give an option not to run at Windows startup so I had to use Task Manager to stop it from doing so.

I've decided to uninstall it and do without it. I think it really went downhill when Avast bought it.

I tried it for a few days but with no scheduled cleaning & the new bloatware added it wasn’t for me so uninstalled it. I have the previous version’s install file so may install that.

Most annoying in CC7 is the too large nag screen with no close.

Many on the CCleaner forum are complaining about this update saying it crashing, breaking Windows &/or freezing during scan.

Fed up, I deleted v7 CCleaner using Revo, amazing how many leftovers there were for a cleaning program after it cleaned up after itself.
Instead of going back to the previous annoying v6 version with the two incessant freezing nag screens now using Wise Disk Cleaner.

I noticed that shortly after CCleaner 7 was updated on my computer, my Office Professional Plus 2021 stopped working.

It’s a disaster with incorrect drivers being installed, removing programs & corrupting Windows. The recommendation is to roll back/clean install the previous version.

Yes, it IS a disaster!! Not only did CCleaner 7.7.2.1080.1295 install itself without my permission, likely through Auto Update, it also installed Avast Secure Line VPN, again without my permission. It also totally screwed up my Office 2021 AND my Advanced System Care! For some odd reason, Avast Secure Line VPN is not appearing on my Revo Uninstaller, but does show up under apps in Windows settings. However, it doesn't allow me to modify or uninstall the program via apps. Can you guess WHERE the VPN is showing up under programs for uninstallation? Right! CCleaner! So, I will have to remove it through CCleaner, THEN uninstall CCleaner. Once that piece of trash is gone, then I have to uninstall, then reinstall Advanced System Care. I already uninstalled Office 2021, so that will have to be reinstalled, too. If this wasn't such a pain in the rear, it would (almost) be funny. I went back and looked at my last restore point and scanned the list of everything that was removed. Not just programs, but DRIVERS, registry keys, and things I don't even recognize. Sorry for the rant, but this thing had me thinking I had been hacked! I am definitely staying as far away from CCleaner as possible from now on. Advanced System Care does the job for me without all the nonsense!

Good luck to everyone also dealing with this issue. We know it's not Major Geeks's fault!!!! Personally, I would be lost without these guys!!!!!!

I love Revo Uninstaller. Sometimes, I can't believe all the stuff it finds and removes.

Have you tried Advanced System Care for cleaning? I've been using it for years, and it does a good job.

Others have reported the same - deleted programs after using the software updater or software Uninstaller.

CC v7 is awful, but I fell back on the v6 without any issues noticed either way. The initial 'upgrade' did need a few runs through all the Options/Preferences etc. to figure out how to make it behave but a test cleanup run was successful with nothing untoward noted.

Now I get to wait to see if they'll force the v7 on me in a years' time.

I did the System Restore. Unfortunately, CCleaner REINSTALLED itself, but with only Cloud Drive Cleaner and Duplicate Finder in the main menu. I tried running a scan, but it didn't work. No biggie, since I really didn't use CCleaner anyway; I just hadn't gotten around to uninstalling it. My big issue now is how to uninstall Avast Secure Line VPN. It shows up in my apps, but only when I go into settings and click apps on the menu. The modify and uninstall buttons are there, but they're grayed out. And the program is in my program files folder (Windows C: >Program Files), but no uninstall file. Any suggestions from the troops??

@Tweety1964 Revo Uninstaller free, it’ll try running the default uninstall, if it can’t/fails then run scan for leftovers which will force uninstall it.

The program isn't showing up on Revo Uninstaller. I sent the program file to a compressed folder, then deleted the folder. I know it doesn't remove it, but it out of sight. I did uninstall CCleaner 7, so that is gone. Advanced System Care is working fine after an uninstall, the a reinstall.

I have Advanced System Care 19on both my W10 laptop and W11 system. Works fine on both.

If it’s an app from the MS App Store then it’d be under the app section of Revo or have you checked there?

No, it's not in Windows apps on Revo. It only shows up in my apps when I go through Windows Settings and click apps, but the buttons to modify or uninstall are greyed out. I may have to remove it through the Registry. I've isolated the program's registry key.

Sounds like they’re remnants from a previous removal.

Leftovers from CCleaner sneakily adding it when it when it auto-updated. It's funny; I have used CCleaner in the past and liked it, but when version 6 came out, it was TERRIBLE. I think I'll stick to the programs I KNOW work and don't try to slip in "extras" when they update.
