Me again! Finally got Linux installed on my 2nd machine - had a hard time as it would not install from any of the DVD's I had made. Finally loaded the ISO file to a USB jump drive and it installed. Liking it so far - easier to add software and my printer over windows/trying to find my disks or the network printer! Anyway my problem is no sound while watching online videos using firefox. I researched and printed/followed a bunch of things but still no sound? I do have sound for the various things like Linux mint starting etc as well as I just tried a saved youtube video off of a jump drive and I have sound. Any ideas on how to fix this? I haven't looked yet is there a different browser I should be using or am I missed a setting or extension I need?

Update! I installed Chromium and have sound now with videos. Still would like to get firefox working but at least I can use Chromium.

Perhaps the tab is muted? I had that issue before as well. To check, try pressing Ctrl+M or click on the tiny speaker icon in the tab itself to unmute it.

Thanks but tried that as I have muted tabs several times accidentally while selecting a tab!

Try this: Click on the System Settings option, then scroll down to Hardware and select Sound. In the sound menu, you'll find an Application tab where you can adjust the volume for each application. You may need to make adjustments there.

In firefox check the little box in the circle of the pic I posted, and see if sound is blocked there. If so just click it and select unblock. This could be it. Hope it helps.

No sound isn't blocked there. And I noticed the permissions for youtube block audio and video setting in your picture which I have found and made sure it is set to allow audio and video! Thanks anyway! Anything is worth looking at but I can get by now since I downloaded chromium and sound works with it. Still would like to figure it out but can live with it now.
