Pc Will Not Shut Off Using Desktop Commands In Sleep, Restart, Or Shut Down

Just recently, I had a problem waking up the computer by pressing the mouse button and various keyboard buttons. I held down the computer power button for ten seconds and it shut off; however, upon turning it on after about a minute wait, the computer would not boot up, so I pulled the AC cord out, then reconnected it. It booted up again but now has the characteristic of when I put it into sleep mode by manually hitting the "sleep" command,, though the monitor turns off (and says "monitor going to sleep), once the computer is ready to go into sleep, it immediately starts up again- and the monitor turns on. The monitor will shut off on its own from the windows power setting ( with no force to go into sleep from the desktop), but the hard drive and machine electronics stay on.

When I go to the shut down command in the Windows start window, the computer appears to shut off, but something is preventing it to completely turn off. The only way I can get it to be off is to hold the power button on the computer down for 10 seconds or so.

 

Power has always been an issue - sleep, hibernate... You can try to repair or roll back your system. In the end the easiest way is to do this..

Create a shortcut on the desk top.
Target: C:\Windows\System32\shutdown.exe /s /t 0
Start in: C:\Windows\system32
Change Icon there is a red power button (make it look nicer)

This will usually shutdown a PC that refuses to cooperate.
