Accidentally Plugged The Wrong External Hard Drive In For File History

So yesterday I accidentally plugged in the wrong external hard drive for my daily File History backup (Windows 10). Once I realised this I cancelled the process, unplugged the drive and connected the correct one.

However now it just keeps asking me to reselect my File History drive. Even if I pick the correct one it just keeps asking me to reselect a drive and won't actually do the backup any more. What can I do? The whole thing is basically stuck in a loop.

 

Click Start, type Control Panel, and hit Enter. Navigate to System and Security>File History. Click the turn off button.
Hit the Windows Key + R. The Run dialogue should open. In there, copy & paste %localappdata%\Microsoft\Windows\FileHistory\Configuration press Enter.
You should see a few files in this folder. Delete all the files inside this folder. This will not delete your backups, just the configs that tell Windows where to look.
Now you should be able to start over with the correct drive. Don't forget to turn File History back on after reconfiguring.

Will this just start a completely fresh backup on this drive or will it continue to just incrementally add to the existing one before this error? Just a bit concerned if it's the former as I doubt the drive has enough space for a full duplicate backup.

 

If there wasn't an option ( a check box) to select the existing backup, then Windows would scan the drive for the files and start back adding incrementally.
