The forgotten SH game.



They should have ported it long ago...

 

I’m sure I saw it in a Blackpool arcade, I didn’t play it though. I wonder if it’s available via emulation - looks repetitive though?

 

When I was on gog.com, I noticed SH4: The Room is on the site. If only SH3 could be ported too. That horrible HD collection that was released on the Xbox 360 and PS3 in 2012 was buggy, and for licensing reasons, they weren't able to have the original voices in the game, unlike 2, resulting in a complete re-dub.

In other news, Capcom hopes to do expansions for adding in different story updates for RE9, etc, rather than developing more spin off games. This will improve the augmentation, and could help to resolve plot threads that have lingered for ages, like the fate of Billy Coen, or if Natalia Korda is acting different as an adult. Because as you know, they introduced so many characters, yet failed to really reveal much about the outcome.

Even in the scene where Billy tells of his downfall, Capcom just messed it up.

He basically tells Rebecca he was on a mission with his comrades, and they realized someone provided misleading information. So he stated that they could not go back empty handed after finding they went to the wrong place. We are then shown a scene that is set in Africa, despite not being connected to RE5. But all you see is some person's eyes close up briefly, so it's never even revealed who ordered the shooting to begin with.

Hm. They need to definitely not leave us hanging on to storylines, because they clearly must not be important to Capcom, who now go about trying to retcon things anyway.

Hire better writers who are willing to go the distance, if this is their biggest worry with their games.

Yes, there’s a number of characters who disappeared from the franchise, Capcom probably think we’re not interested in hearing about them again but these characters deserve closure & the players need to know what happened to them.

 

When it comes to Capcom, I think they should just come clean and admit to us that the modern remakes are canonical.

There is no way the OG lore and whatever goes on today can both be canon, because then every game ever made would be official, concurrently.

Now, okay. I totally understand that they could not show a flashback to a PS1 game. That would stand out like a sore thumb, you know? Because it is basically low resolution polygons versus 4K HD. But some aspects of the story were not in the original, like Kendo the gun store owner having a kid. So it does feel like RE2 (2019) has gone and 'replaced' everything the original title began in the 90s. Which sucks, because then the awful remake of 3 with 95% of the original stuff altered, must be canon as well. It wouldn't make sense for one or two remakes to be canon, but not the other ones Capcom released. So they're probably going to remake 5 at some point. Like it really needs to be updated. Come on!

But yeah. RE3 is so crap. I hate the glitch where Nemesis clips through a roof. He could aim his tentacle at his enemies, but he is not supposed to be able to dive through ceilings. And what else was wrecked?

No Barry ending. No clock tower. No dead factory. No Brad death. Bargain bin zombie outbreak, while we worried in 2020 if Covid could make us into one of the undead.

I just refuse to accept the remake of 3 counts. But I guess it does, whether we like it or not.

 

They do need to clarify things for the fans.

The trailer for the new RE movie is out, the story still sounds similar to the opening of 28 days later.

Been playing Ac Black Flag Resynced. Lovely graphics, especially the underwater sections.

 

Decided to go to Fopp a few times, as there is one at the west end in Edinburgh. Had to endure the heatwave.

A few weeks ago, I bought Return to Silent Hill, and it is terrible.

A branch of HMV (which owns Fopp) is in the middle of Princes Street. Way too busy to go there.

Picked up Bring Her Back, the classic Universal Dracula collection, Scream 7, Until Dawn, Good Boy, Weapons, Invaders from Mars (1953, B&W) and I Know What You Did Last Summer (2025).

Was checking out loads of things on Prime when I had just a handful of discs. Just could never get into these 'cures for insomnia' at all. Totally boring. But I may try to watch some giallo movies, if they are dubbed. Usually foreign movies on Amazon only have the original language, but the physical copy may have multiple options.

I wish there were more films to stream that could hold my enthusiasm. Ones along the likes of Vacancy, The Hitcher, and the one with Paul Walker annoying the psycho trucker in the car, are what I call great watches. They provide a plot that has you engaged. But I think everything now is so pedestrian.

Wanted to watch Who Can Kill A Child?, as it has a rep for being an underrated 70's film, but it is not currently free to view.

I find older movies in general are more scary. The way they make films now, the scenes are too dark, and people act like jar heads. And I just do not like the 2020s, because this decade has just sucked. So I see it in the antics of the characters.

 

The heat has been a nightmare for me.

I can imagine it is one of those films where I’ll watch it once just to prove how bad it is - Welcome to Raccoon city was the last one I watched to prove that.

I’ve read there’s a Blu-ray/4k release of the original Nosferatu either out now or due soon. A few months ago I was having a conversation with someone who noticed my Hammer The Mummy T-shirt & he said they’d just bough a copy for £200.

Modern horror seems to rely on shock tactics rather than building the tension.

 

Every time I walk into Fopp or HMV, it is like the adage: 'A kid in a candy store'. They have rows of films. Second Sight Films. Arrow Video. 88 films. Etc. The occasional region free import.

Cannot afford them right now. I am aiming to replace many of my old DVDs with newer Blu-rays. Maybe not necessarily in 4K, although that would be nice. But they are around 30 quid. They do a 3 for £50 offer. But even still. £50 is like survival money to most of us these days. Especially with how much the meal deals are in Tesco. It is that bad now, people may as well live off dried food like lentils, pasta and tinned tomatoes.

Speaking of £50...

My sister contacted me yesterday and seemed... better. Sent me exactly that. 50 quid. We had recently gotten into a real spat where I was accused of things per her latest paranoia bout. I don't know any of what she was upset over. But try telling her that.

Long story short: She has a mental illness and thinks she gets watched, followed, plotted against, and so on. Acts really odd. I don't fully trust people who carry on like that, even if their condition cannot be helped. Just has you wary you may be set up and be blamed for something more serious the next time around. First it may be phones. Then, you know? It may escalate.

Yeah. Hope you are managing to make it bearable at least in England. It was scorching in Edinburgh last week. That is kind of the reason why my phone broke. I normally wear a jacket with securer pockets, but like you say, 23 C weather ain't for winter coats. So I had it in these joggers. Couldn't get my other clothes to my place until just recently due to her behaviour preventing me being the voice of reason, so you can imagine they'd have been barking with the sweating.

What is awful about the guest house I am in that there is no toilet rolls in the shower rooms, or they are soaked. The floors are wet. They have a curtain on a window, but it doesn't go all the way down to the ledge. Keep hearing residents chatting outside at 1 am. Just... why?

Ended up seeing the green man, so I ran and it slipped out of my pocket because of the earphones dragging up to my face. Silly me. Shouldn't have done that. But then you got to wait like 3 minutes for it to change again.

You can hardly get moving in Edinburgh. The roads are so congested. Trams. Buses. Cyclists. People shoving past you in boarded up streets.

You don't wanna ride a bike anywhere than the cycle paths by the riverside, or the canal. There's an issue with pedestrians getting in your way a lot near the start of the Union Canal at Fountainbridge, because it's situated near a housing scheme. But once you get past Wester Hailes, the route becomes more tranquil. You can actually cycle all the way to the Kelpies at Falkirk, then change over to the Forth and Clyde Canal to get to Glasgow.
