    A few goof ups from being tired, but we made it! I see the desktop now, mouse pad and keyboard are working and Windows 11 is installed. Thank you!

    Still going good. I adjusted her settings back to the way she liked it. Tomorrow I'll work on downloading her stuff. No issues at all!

    Do we need to change the settings in her BIOS back or anything, or should we leave well enough alone?

    I can't believe we did it! You are amazing as always! Thank you for your help!

    Great news to wake up to.

    Make sure you run Windows Update until there are no more updates. Hopefully the software needed for the laptop to function properly (drivers etc.) will be downloaded automatically. Once you are all set up we will take a look at things.

    Nice work partner.

    BTW, if you want the option to connect the old drive to the computer to access files or anything else let me know. You can get a USB adapter to connect it like an external drive.

    Her computer is up to date. I don't know how to tell about the drivers, but it seems to be functioning properly so far. You were right, the SSD is so much faster...I may be borrowing her computer from time to time to make up for how much she's been using mine :)

    I didn't know we could do that with her old hard drive, will it work even though it is broken? I'll have to ask her and see if she's interested in trying that.

    The data on the old drive should be accessible. If you wait a day or so you may not have to ask her. :)

    Expand all categories in device manager and see if there are any exclamation points.

    She's wondering if it would be possible to transfer some games from her old hard drive, since if she just downloads them fresh on her "new computer" her progress will be lost?

    That's good.

    We can go back into the BIOS and Enable this setting.

    I would guess the the game history is in a data file that can be copied over. We can work on that once the games are set up and you are able to attach the old drive as an external drive.
